Did you notice if your power % meter was working? Was the needle on the power side or regen side?
At first read sound normal cause the ICE shuts off during de-acceleration or when it's not needed.
Do not worry, take your trip.
An engine fire can happen to any vehicle. The chance of happening is extremely low. Like all cars, keep in mind: "if you hear unexpected engine noises, lose power, or see or smell smoke" stop on the side of the road as soon as you can. What's makes it more...
For those of you who didn't get the Hybrid exclusively because it comes with a "CVT"
If the Hybrid CVT had:
-a set of planetary gears with no belts or pulleys
-8yrs / 100k miles warranty
-a mode that simulate your Nascar gear shifting needs
Would you buy then?
**yes.. I'm describing the...
The service rep wasn't sure yesterday when I asked him, but I was told at the time of the part order a few months ago, they're waiting on a new version of the heat exchanger assembly and could take awhile.
I wonder if there's a way I can tell looking at it.
I went in for an oil change yesterday and they said they could change my heat exchanger / exhaust at the same time as the part was in. I no longer have the CEL and confirmed it's changed.
Besides the faulty EGR code, did you have any symptoms of a bad EGR? In colder areas, many of us are having the rough idle issue when the ICE is warming up, which is one of the symptoms of a bad EGR. I mentioned the EGR TSB it to my dealer, but they never replaced the EGR.
I haven't had any rough idle/shake since the quick fix.. And its still winter up here around -9C / 15F this morning. Maybe next winter, issue may re-appear..
So far for a 1st year budget hybrid vehicle, its been pretty good! I was expecting bigger issues. Got mine April 22. I now have 15'000 miles.
I'm waiting for a heat exchanger/exhaust, dealer assured its drivable. But I'm confused when I see others with a rental for the same issue.
I did have...
I know the damper are the sound we hear, and theyre probably junk. But I dont think replacing it will fix the shaking. It'll just make the shaking more silent? But I'm no mechanic..
My dealer swapped plugs and adjusted the cams. I've been remote starting all week, no tractor mode idle yet... Not convinced its fixed though, but time will tell.
I'm pretty sure Ford will release a TSB eventually.
There's 2 different surging issues. The early one had a sulfur smell, red catalytic with the rough idle. TSB 22-2124 which fixed it.
But now there's another idle issue. The ticking sound is mostlikely dampers on flywheel, but not sure what is causing it and it will go away once you put it in...
I'm sure the dampers is the noise we hear, but what is causing the misfire and shake?
In TSB 22-2493 for the P0402 code and/or Brake-Grab, they mention to update software and replace the EGR sensor (only if code P0402 is present). I'm no mechanic, but what does the EGR sensor have to do with...
Keep us updated. I'm getting the same noise once in awhile, no engine light though. I just watch a video of a mechanic who is comparing old Dampers with new Dampers form a Prius. Make sense that's where the rattle is coming from.
Sounds like you need the update too.
Before the update, I could replicate the thunk sound by driving down a steep slope and trying to keep speed as low as possible, keeping slight pressure on the brake pedal. You can feel the brake pedal being firm but it would not slow down the speed, so...
I have a FWD Hybrid with Michelin X-Ice. It drives very well in the snow. I'm not worried one bit. I have friends who swear they need AWD, but they keep forgetting its FWD and not a RWD pickup.
I have driven both.. If you want a daily with great MPGs, go with Hybrid. If you need to tow more...
