That is awesome. I've been waiting to decide what my next steps are, but I think the ctr50 and intercooler are in my future. A proper suspension setup and some sticky pads and I think this truck would be a blast around a road course.
That's exactly what i was trying to say, but you said it much better. Even being that conservative for power loss, these are exciting numbers.
Is anyone offering tcm tunes to help take advantage of the power curve that comes with larger turbo like the CTR57? Cobb did a good job with their...
Ivan, are these numbers with power to only the front wheels on the dyno?
Not taking anything away from the numbers. Even at a 15% drivetrain loss from fwd to awd were talking 300 awhp from a stock housing (ctr50) turbo. Theres definitely plenty of potential. I'm hoping someone figures out how...
Finally got around to trying some fixes. I'm not of fan of slip joints on exhausts, so I had them welded. I also ended up having a vibrant ultra quiet resonator welded on right after the down pipe. There is still some drone at about 2200 rpm, but I can tolerate it. Drone without the resonator...
I'm at about 46k so far. Tuned since about 1000 miles, and I've had the 3" turboback on along with a custom e-tune (93 octane) for about 10,000. I don't drive very reserved and have not had any transmission issues yet. Actually ran the rear tires completely bald within the last 10000 miles...
I've loaded it just slightly under payload since the springs were installed. Handled 1200lb fine. The rear did squat some, but no rubbing or bottoming out.
Ground clearance is fine. I drive into quite a bit of commercial job sites (tilt up and foundation work) and haven't had any trouble yet.
I've had the goodwin springs and rear sway on for about 20,000 miles so far. Steers much better, no issues with the springs yet. Harsher ride than stock, but nothing more than expected from a shorter spring.
Narrowing down the "drone" may be a work in progress. I did begin a "stage 2" e-tune which did help some of the drone at lower loads. The tuner still has some revision to be made, but the truck feels much more responsive. I've also since noticed the band clamps still allow the exhaust to...
Finally installed it over the weekend. I still have some driving around to do to but it sounds good from the outside. Inside the cab (with windows up) might be a little too much for me. Definitely have some drone around 2200-2500 rpm while accelerating. Cruising is fine at all speeds so far...
Turboback from Stainless Works showed up today. I’m hoping to set a day aside in the next 2-3 weeks to get it installed. Quality looks great. If I can take a video that replicates what it sounds like in person, I will post it up.
I’m expecting my turbo back from Stainless Works for the end of May. I’m really hoping it sounds like their video. The borla sounds like every focus st exhaust I’ve ever heard. Nervous to hear the SW in person.
I’ll post when it’s on and running. I got an eta for the last week of May. Drone I’m not terribly worried about. I’ve ran questionable setups on previous cars and never had a huge issue with drone. I’ll let everyone know how it sounds in person vs their video.
I ordered both the downpipe and catback from Stainless Works yesterday morning. Really hoping it sounds similar to the video. Reminded me of the Evo X in parts.
Finally got around to lowering the truck. Used lowering springs and a rear sway bar from Goodwin Racing.
I haven’t gotten around to measuring the actual drop now that it’s settled, but it’s spot on for what I wanted.
Stock plugs for now. I’ll do some logging when we get some better temps. -4 last night. On the plus side, even below freezing it feels like it’s running great.
