I've tried pressing the ESC button while in Lobo mode, but it doesn't seem to make any changes. I'll have to try holding it down for a few seconds & see if that does something. Hopefully Ford designed a way around it into the Lobo.
I'm waiting for someone to come out with tune for this thing...
Lol thanks. There is no info on this truck yet for track setup & use. Edmunds has the best review of this truck I've read so far.
Pulling fuses will be tested if I can't find any magic "pedal & button dance" that will shut it off.
This is the only place I have those videos posted so far.
Autocross Test Results – Minor Mods, Big Gains
Last night, I finally got to test out the recent mods at an Autocross event—and they made a noticeable difference.
Results:
The updates shaved off approximately 5 seconds. Goal achieved!
Current Setup & Mods:
Tires: 245/50/19 Firestone Indy...
The camber bolts will help a bit, but not much if you're using the stock tires. The tires are just that terrible. They have no grip, which is why you reach the point of understeer so easily.
But as a cheap mod to try out, yes adding the camber bolts will have an noticeable effect on reducing...
All great advice there, especially the driving skill part 👍 It's very common to see people spending money on mods that don't do much and not spending it were it actually matters. Seat time!... and better tires.
**Easy Camber Mod for Better Cornering on the Maverick**
One of the easiest and cheapest modifications you can make to improve your Maverick's cornering is adding negative camber.
The Maverick uses a MacPherson strut front suspension, which has a key drawback:
As the suspension compresses...
Only does so much. Allows you to get on the throttle sooner, but doesn't eliminate understeer. Still need to play with suspension & tire setup to dial it out more.
Neutral on corner entry & mild understeer on corner exit. It can hold alot more speed through the corners now. Tires, rear swaybar & extra camber have made all the difference.
~Lapping Test~
Got out last night to rip some laps and see how the Lobo performs in that setting.
Overall Impression
It handled lapping better than expected! The Lobo would be a decent vehicle for someone new to track days who just wants to try it out—not someone looking to go flat out lap...
More than good enough for what you're looking to do. They have similar grip levels to the cheaper Firestone Indy 500's, but they are better in the rain.
The best performance tire you'll find in a 245/50/19 will be the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. They tested out ~1 second faster than the...
In Lobo mode, the throttle response is very good. The Transmission stays mostly in the gear you want it in. I didn't find it worth using the manual mode for AutoX, as it will still just shift up into 3rd whenever it wants to, and pressing the paddle to downshift doesn't do anything.
Sport mode...
100% agree. I will not be surprised if the Lobo is just a 1 year model, unless it sells really well. Has a very "lets slap on some shit from the parts bin & test how well this sells" feel to it.
There is ~0.5 degrees of toe-in from factory.
Video of a run from a week ago with just the Goodwin Swaybar installed (stiffest setting). Still on the horrible factory tires, but I'm very surprised at how little body roll it had! It will be interesting to see how much that changes with higher grip tires though.
Yes, definitely considering the Schroth Quick Fit as part of the solution. Had one in a previous car. The price of used ST seats are insane for what they are.
Picture attached for those wondering what the hell a Schroth harness is.
There just ain't no way you're generating high enough cornering forces in a mostly stock Maverick to have camber loss issues due to the strut towers flexing. All those soft rubber bushing in the stock suspension will be an issue before the rigidity of the strut tower is.
