With the Maverick not being a true body on frame truck, if the push bar or brush guard were put into actual use against a deer or something, I wonder what affect this could have on the vehicle. The Maverick, with its unibody construction, makes it more like a car with a bed on it than a true truck.
I like that front camera, but personally I consider myself partial to the new periscopes that have been popping up on the aftermarket, for this exact issue.
So long as we drive it like a racecar we will be good, seeing how strong it seems to be for some of the guys who are eeking all of the power they can out of the motor.
I just got my Burger JB4 and don't plan on stopping there! Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
I used to have an '83 Datsun/Nissan 280ZX Turbo and later an '84 Cadillac Eldorado. I've been thinking about modifying my hood with the new long john hood extenders from RealTruck to bring that feeling back. Or maybe I'll stretch the bed and just drive backwards. I'll update y'all later.
Wow! Tune does quite a bit. I too am excited to see what the turbo upgrade and downpipe will do for him! This is good stuff. When I visit the club website and see posts like this, I feel like I'm cracking open an old issue of Super Street, and it's awesome.
Describing the speakers as sounding blown was a poor description on my part. It's just vibratory. The vibration is less when the volume is turned down and when I dial down the bass on the factory equalizer.
I'm going to go all in on reducing resonance/vibration and sound deadening. I watched a...
I used adapter spacers from Crutchfield. I didn't use any foam tape at all. This could be where most of my problem lies, I'm thinking. Another member mentioned the foam too.
For wiring I used a harness-style adapter.
I used a mounting adapter, but didn't add foam between the adapter and the door. I didn't use foam around under the speaker bezel where it contacts the mounting adapter either. I need to look into getting some foam. Where did you get your foam?
I like the sub idea too, but for now I'm pretty...
Yes, I did. Dynamat threads I found were in reference to eliminating road noise.
Anyone have anything helpful? So far just comments from the peanut gallery.
I'll keep watching the thread in case any of the speaker folks chime in. Have a good night.
Would appreciate anyone's feedback who has experience with aftermarket speakers and/or sound deadening material, such as Dynamat, in the front doors of the Maverick. Thanks again.
I installed some new door speakers in my XL and they sound blown. If I brace myself against the door they sound better, so I think it's vibration.
Any of you run into similar issues? I have no experience with Dynamat. Don't want to buy it and install unless it will help on the Maverick...
Builtright Industries bed MOLLE panels installed. Compatible with Billie Bars, X15 tonneau (X15 requires modification to be used in conjuction with Billie Bars), and bed cubbies. No interference.
Example for use of the MOLLE panels would be to mount fire extinguisher and a hand tool (shovel...
I was digging in my thread history and found a guy who I believe is also running Billie Bars with the X15 tonneau.
There won't be many of us out there. Mod is a PITA - not as bad as installing my 2" Eibach lift with the McPherson strut compressor, but still a pain. If I had the Billie Bars...
Okay, I have the X15 mod done, to allow it to work with Billie Bars. Attaching photos. The X15 can be rolled all the way up, under the bars, with minimal finessing.
Got a bit more efficent for the second side. Was able to make fewer cuts.
Will work on getting the bare metal painted and also...
Well, I ended up going forward with the modification. Sharing photos for one side before I start working on the other side.
Will hit the bare metal with primer/paint and then start working on sealing the gaps another day.
Project going good so far.
I really didn't want to get rid of my X15...
