Interesting option. I like that you can keep using the bottom of the bed for storage.
Unfortunately, it seems a bit unstable. Also, I'd drill a plywood over those 2x4. A follow-up video would be nice to see what happened to those tube legs.
In Canada, the Kamp Rite is twice the price of the...
A car tailgate tent?
Like this one?
I see it covering the bed.
I'm planning a road trip to clear my head and would like a quick camping option for rest areas.
When doing errands in winter, it is best practice to start with your most faraway destination first.
If that destination is close by, just drive around 15 minutes before going to it.
Winter is an engine killer, whether ICE or Hybrid, when used impatiently.
Over the last weekend, I did my first highway drive during a heavy snowfall. The road was snow covered and I couldn't see 10 feet ahead on this one hour drive.
I kept the drive mode on Slippery all the way.
I drove at speeds varying from 60 km/h to 100 km/h and did not experience a single loss...
Weird, no thread on oil changes in the DIY section... Got to fix that!
As I am getting all my tools/parts ready for the inevitable first oil change, I can't find a clear answer regarding the drain plug. Should I plan on keeping the same gasket or should I get a replacement (rubber, copper,...) ?
I guess all-weather tires could be OK during winter on a 4WD Maverick.
But I wouldn't trust my life on them with a FWD Maverick.
We just got a foot of snow in Montreal and you could see those who hadn't put their snow tires on yet : just spinning all over the place.
This is my first winter with...
Over the last 24 hours, we received 30 cm (1 foot) of snow in Montreal.
I took out my Hybrid FWD Maverick out for a milk run to my local Home Depot in the city.
(Time to get a new shovel!)
As expected, the Mav was snowed in and it took me a good 15 minutes to clear.
Getting it out of its...
Here in Canada's province of Quebec, we just need to keep the receipts. We have very strong consumer laws.
That said, this is the first time I'll be handling my vehicle's regular basic maintenance. I want to make sure I don't forget a thing and keep a private (offline) record of everything I'm...
Hi,
As well as doing most of my maintenance, I'd like to create a paper trail in case an issue shows up in the future.
Do any of you have an inspection sheet relevant for the Mav?
Cheers!
Back in the 1920's, (gas) service station were not numerous. Even more rare the further away you went from a city. You would often see drivers walking on country roads, empty jug in hand, looking for gas.
The EV infrastructure will eventually catch up with the demand. It just won't be as fast...
Just installed them. Work great!
Didn't need to get different rubber seal.

Obviously. Never claimed that.
But for city and suburban driving, AWD is usually overkill (like %99.9 of the time).
In the country side, FWD quickly becomes challenging.
I have to climb a fairly steep road to reach my parents' cottage.
I'm sure I'll struggle to reach it in January.
But that's...
Regarding the Hybrid Mav's 110v outlet, the verdict has been, for me, well established : it is underwhelming.
I am currently toying with the idea of using a rechargeable power station (like one from Ecoflow) for my needs instead. Can any of you tell if I can use the 110v outlet as a trickle...
I've driven front wheel drive vehicles all my life in Canada. The only times I ever had problems where when I knowingly attempted to go though places I shouldn't have.
In urban settings (the Hybrid Mav's natural habitat), I don't expect any problem from my Hybrid XLT.
I'm a month away from...
I did some seat adjustments and, when my elbow reaches the tip of the armrest, I found myself too low and get a reduced line of sight.
I'll ask Santa for that armrest booster this Christmas. It's a terrific stocking stuffer...
