Good to know, thanks. One other thing I learned on this trip is the TPMS sensors are very inaccurate. After setting all the tires to 35 psi using a high quality Milton air gauge, I was getting readings on the dash from 32-37 psi. Even the manual says not to rely on the TPMS display when airing...
That's a good question. When I got my flat in Death Valley, I threw the flat tire in the bed. The donut spare doesn't have a sensor. The dash kept warning me that I had zero psi in one tire until I got the flat repaired. I don't know what warning I would have gotten if the tire was nowhere near...
This is not necessarily true. I got a flat that was unrepairable in Death Valley on a 40 mile jeep road. I had to drive another 10 miles on the donut (going 10mph or less) to get to where I was going. We managed to find a used tire that was 1 inch larger diameter than my factory tires, and...
I just had the tail light recall software update performed by my dealer. I notice it wiped out my Sport and Eco modes (I have the FX4 with 4K) but kept all of my other Forscan changes (turning off various chimes, disabled panic alarm on FOB). So they must be ok with owners doing some Forscan...
Several months ago I added Eco and Sport modes to my 2.0 AWD FX4 with 4K Tow using Forscan. Yesterday all of a sudden Eco and Sport modes disappeared and I'm back to the factory only modes. Any idea why that is? Has anyone else experienced this?
You would think someone would make a cooler looking aluminum one but it doesn't look like they have yet. Probably because the Mav is not that common. If I fabricate an aluminum one with air scoop built in next summer I'll post pictures and dimensions here.
I did not look for a part number before replacing it. I don't know if there is one. I posted a picture of mine on a Maverick FB group yesterday because the plastic air scoop to my PTU was gone, wondering how important that part is. One guy answered that you cannot order that plastic scoop, and...
The skid plate on FX4 is only tough the first time, because of Loctite on the six 13 mm bolts from the factory. No need for Loctite when replacing those bolts. After the first time you can just zip them out with an impact driver and the four T27 screws in about 60 seconds. I just finished doing...
I don't get why you would need a welder. I have the FX4 and today removed my skid plate to change oil. I forgot it is heavy steel and am thinking of replacing with aluminum. All you would need if no one makes one is to go to a steel supply and get some 1/8-3/16 thick aluminum the right size...
Auto stop still works in Eco mode because it's a basic feature of that mode. All of the other modes the default is off for auto start. If you followed the above directions and it's still on when you start the vehicle, I don't have a clue.
There's this thing called the Owner's Manual. However, this one says nothing about break-in. The only thing I did different is do my first oil change at 5k instead of the recommended 10k. Mobil 1 EP full syn.
Actually it is only the 4K Tow Package that has a lower gear ratio. If you get the 2.0 AWD with FX4 (but not 4K Tow) it will have a 3.63 ratio, not 3.81.
Yep, someone I know with 2.0 AWD 4K tow, Pirelli Scorpion ATR 225/65R17 tires rated H (130 mph) told me that it definitely stops accelerating abruptly and levels off at exactly 108.
Here are some other options that may be possible from the generic Ford instructions:
726-37-01 xxxx xxx0 xxxx - Panic alarm on fob disabled
726-37-01 xxxx xxx1 xxxx - Panic alarm on fob requires 2 presses
726-37-01 xxxx xxx2 xxxx - Panic alarm on fob enabled
726-01-02 xxx0 xxxx xxxx -...
One thing I wanted to do to my Maverick is disable the panic alarm button on the key fob, which annoyingly gets triggered from me squatting and other keys depressing the button. So this morning I explored buying a TPU fob cover (which I may do anyway to protect the fob), physically opening the...
Here are the videos I watched before messing with Forscan, four parts. There could be better ones out there now. This guy's YouTube channel is #forscan. One thing I did not get from the videos (I think it was from someone on here) is that you need to download the very latest version of Forscan...
Yes but you're not disabling ABS on your brakes. This has been asked and discussed in this forum before. Don't ask me what it does, but you have to do it, and you still have ABS braking, I've verified it. I cannot get my wheels to skid no matter what mode I'm in.
