Very easy to install a power tailgate lock. The FoMoCo Power lock assembly is a bolt on item, be sure to order a new wire harness for the power lock. Note: tape the handle assembly on, the bolts holding the lock assembly also hold the handle assembly on, tape just keeps it from falling off...
Things my XL Hybrid didn't have but I wanted.
-
(1)Power Mirrors: Got the CoPilot360 so in doing so got the power mirrors (and extra driving safety)
(2)Cruise Control: I changed the steering wheel switches and programed the modules so now I have Cruise Control (approximately $120 total)...
I put " Spider" hub caps on my Velocity Blue XL. Cost me $50 so it's a cheap improvement. For just over $100 I changed the steering wheel switches to switches with cruise and reprogrammed so now I have Cruise Control.
Has happened 3 times to me, latest time was today. XL Hybrid has 1,1xx miles. I was at a stop, let up on brake (no accelerator pedal used) to move slightly up and AFTER coming to a complete stop and after a second or so there was a very noticeable "thump" as if transmission (eCVT) did a hard...
I really wanted Cruise Control and Power Mirrors but chose to get the XL due to price. Before I ordered I understood that with Co-Pilot360 one would get the power mirrors. I had looked into adding the aftermarket cruise control but after seeing others had added the switches and did the...
I would say your MPG sounds right for 80% hiway and at that high speed. I'm getting 45-46 MPG but I'm 90% in town. Window sticker should show 33 MPG hiway so looks like you're doing well.
I can't take much credit for this, other threads have the info but not as concise. I wanted to make it all in one easy to follow thread. Other threads talk about needing to do "as built" data entries but doing it this way required no "as built" entry. One thing more, I did this after having...
To add Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) requires a lot more parts (wiring and sensor) and expense than just the switches. I have just a little over $100 (got the switches for less than list) including the $12 for the year of Forscan. Some have complained about the quick acceleration back to set...
see my thread on replacing the steering wheel switches with Ford switches with cruise control and then program to work, I did on my XL Hybrid w/Co-Pilot360
Thought I'd try to simplify adding Cruise Control to a XL Hybrid w/Co-Pilot 360 using Ford steering wheel switches.
I replaced the original non-cruise switches with new Ford switches with cruise control.
Left switch; Part # LB5Z-9C888-G (SW-8414) (replaces # SW-8579) $40.18
Right switch; part...
I have one on my Maverick, I like the one side only release lever. One does need to release the cover to close the tail gate for the rear seal to fit on top the tail gate. I like the canvas top instead of a vinyl cover. The Pro X15 is very easy to roll up and remove.
On my XL Hybrid with Co-Pilot360 I just this week installed the steering wheel switches with cruise control (not adaptive) and after purchasing the OBD adaptor I was able to program the switches so cruise control works. Had to install the Forscan program on my laptop (I did pay the $12 for the...
If it's consistent and can be duplicated and demonstrated by you to a repair tech it should be easy to diagnose. If occasional and can't be duplicated and demonstrated by you then be patient. Almost impossible to fix an occasional problem that can't be duplicated.
My XL Hybrid with 1,000 miles has consistently gotten 45 mpg, mix of hiway and in town. Funny thing you'll most likely find is the miles to empty will increase as you drive it more!
After two months of ownership and at 1,000 miles, I'm done adding things to my Maverick (I think)
"Self Fabricated" a panel to prevent dirt/debris being thrown up onto the back of the drivers side tail light (see thread "Fabricated Panel" I started)
Truxedo Pro X15 Soft Roll-Up Tonneau Cover...
Just got my XL Hybrid cruise programmed today. Can't say it was easy but not impossible. I had never used an OBD adaptor or Forscan, give me a distributor with points and gas engine with one or more carburetors and I can make it run great. Took some patience and trial and error. After...
When I heard Ford would sell a NEW Hybrid vehicle for under $22k I decided I had to buy. I'm retired, age 70, bought the XL Hybrid Maverick for under $22k delivered. No other way to get a new vehicle (truck or otherwise) for $22K. Bought the Ford PremiumCare warranty for 8 year/60k miles zero...
