  1. New Maverick Recall: 2.5 Hybrid Engine Fire Hazard [Updated w/ Safety Recall Notice to Dealers]

This seems to vary a lot between dealers. Mine was done in 90 minutes from drive-in to drive-out. I don't know if they took the front end off, but I doubt it. Actual work time probably wasn't more than 60 minutes.
  2. Are Hybrids named wrong?

It would help us get to the bottom of this, but I get why you don't want to... I can't find any support or explanation for what you are saying, but here's how I understand you: Wisconsin added some kind of extra $500 gas tax charge for hybrid titles 5 years ago that doesn't show up on the...
  3. Are Hybrids named wrong?

From what I can find: The title on a hybrid is the same price as on a non-hybrid... $164.50. Registration cost for a truck is $100... plus $75 if it's a hybrid. Local wheel taxes range from $10 to $40 and don't appear to be different for hybrids. So... is it really true that you had to pay...
  4. Are Hybrids named wrong?

I've been looking at this issue because they are also making changes to vehicle taxes in Arizona. I want to compare what's happening here to other states.. In Arizona, from what I can tell so far, the registration (VLT - vehicle license tax) cost changes have applied to BEVs, not HEVs. BEVs...
  5. Are Hybrids named wrong?

Are you talking about the $75 a year surcharge? Or is there some additional tax on hybrids?
  6. Are Hybrids named wrong?

I kind of like the idea of a Maverick hybrid dragging around a hydroelectic dam. That shows real power...
  7. Windshield pressure crack (just approved for warranty replacement)

My XLT windshield cracked today. I parked at a mall in sunny weather, about 80 degrees. My daughter and I came back out about an hour later and she said, "Where did that crack come from?" There may be an impact mark (I see some sort of glint in the photo that I didn't see when I looked at it)...
  8. I do not like the First Edition Hood Decals

Well... I do understand two things... (1) You didn't get the "younger generation" joke. (2) The "L" on your keyboard sticks a bit... :sneaky:
  9. I do not like the First Edition Hood Decals

And that makes all the difference...
  10. Theory on why the hybrid is now the base model

Sorry, I didn't realize that you were @STARCOMMTREY1. I thought you were @FriarPop. Oh, wait... you ARE @FriarPop. Now this is just getting silly...
  11. Theory on why the hybrid is now the base model

I'm glad you agree with you. o_O Otherwise it would be... I don't know.. sad, or confusing, or both I guess.
  12. Theory on why the hybrid is now the base model

I agree with you on the facts. But I think you are wasting your time trying to "logic" this issue. In reality, both trucks are good and there are many positive reasons one could suggest for preferring one or the other. But what's happening here is the opposite -- @FriarPop is trying desperately...
  13. New Maverick Recall: 2.5 Hybrid Engine Fire Hazard [Updated w/ Safety Recall Notice to Dealers]

UPDATE on how the recall went... (1) The service itself took about 90 minutes from when I checked the truck in to when they gave it back to me. Pretty painless. (2) Someone posted saying he was going to keep the removed shutters in case he wanted to reinstall them at some point. Out of...
  14. Video: Summer Heat Hybrid MPG Loss Explained

It's about 5 degrees cooler down here in Tucson and I've only lost about 3 mpg in the heat. But... part of the difference may be that my driving patterns (and my city) don't result in as much time stopped in traffic as you probably spend in Phoenix. My guess is that the time spent stopped in...
  15. What is the actual cost to Buyer(Me)

The term "MSRP" is confusing, and the internet doesn't help. This website says MSRP "doesn't include the vehicle's destination charge." This website says MSRP "typically includes the destination fee." The Maverick's window stickers have a column of numbers labeled "(MSRP)" and a box at the...
  16. Android Auto and Maps

The only way I have found to stop it is to turn off the "start Android Auto automatically" setting. I've done that before, but I can't remember exactly where the setting is. I think you go to the phone or device settings on the head unit (while connected) and you will find it there. Of course...
  17. Using wireless Android Auto with BT earbuds... Possible?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that and it didn't seem to have any effect. Maybe I need to do it in a different order. I'll try again tomorrow cutting off the Maverick audio first, then trying to enable the headset, then vice-versa. I'll report back if anything works. Thanks... That sounds...
  18. Using wireless Android Auto with BT earbuds... Possible?

You suggested that headphones are "illegal in most states." They aren't. That's all there is to it. You misread the article (or didn't bother to read it). No big deal. Don't worry about it. What's the matter, Skeeter? Will no one listen to you at home? That's ok... you can always pound on the...
  19. Using wireless Android Auto with BT earbuds... Possible?

Thanks for the advice, but ... no, it's not illegal in most states. You must have misread the article you linked, because that article also says over two-thirds of the states don't prohibit headphones. Roughly 35 states have no restrictions, and five more allow use of a "one-ear" headsets...
