My Hybrid has pushed 15.4v to the AGM under the seat. That voltage would fry an improperly protected Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. A Sodium Ion battery might have the headroom theoretically it can do 16v max. Sodium Ion has been done once.

Man the EPA ratings are terrible for the hybrid. I'm averaging 18.5km/l (43.5mpg) over summer and winter. In my case I had the price difference paid off in a year. The towing point is beating a dead horse. They both effectively tow 4000lbs.
