  1. All The Reasons You Should Buy A Maverick Instead Of An F-150 🛻💨💨

For my case, I wanted a vehicle that could fit in my garage. I could have fit a midsized in it if I removed some shelves. The Maverick, I could leave the shelves in and still get around the back with the garage door closed. On the other hand, if my Maverick was stolen, I'm not quite sure what...
  2. 1000 mile trip and I only average 24mpg. No matter if I go 55, 65, 75, or 85. This is what I get?

I myself keep track of odometer and gas purchased so I can calculate it accurately. Over 1000 miles variations in how full the tank would be minimal. I suggest doing that before your next long road trip. Fill up just before you leave. Keep track of how much gas you purchase. When you return...
  3. Not an engineer, but blessed with common sense

Unfortunately, my routine for getting and starting a vehicle doesn't work well with this. What with the seat belt reminder, having to click through that first to even get to the ECO button prompt. Along with actually belting in.
  4. Never keep pumping gas after the nozzle clicks!!⛽

There are rare cases that I'll continue. For instance, if I was under 1/4 of a tank, and it shuts off after 2 gallons. But I hate these pumps that day because how do I know when to actually turn off other than rough guess? Otherwise, for years now I'll just stop. With credit cards no need to...
  5. Is The Maverick A Good Buy? Getting Cold Feet

Financially, I probably would have been better off buying an used model for $10,000 less, especially since I don't drive all that many miles. The 7000 I've put on in 15 months is actually more than I expected for a second vehicle. But I do like that I was able to get the color I wanted and it...
  6. Operational cost: Gas EcoBoost vs. Hybrid -- The REAL Break-Even Mileage

I don't remember what the difference was for the 2025 XLT FWD. If the hybrid more expensive, I don't know what my break even point will be because I am not a big driver, just hit 7000 miles in almost 16 months.
  7. Lariat or well spec'd XLT?

It is too late now but I do miss the 360 degree camera, ACC, and lane centering more than expected in my XLT vs my other car. Uncertainty last year caused me to jump with my Luxury package XLT that was available without ordering. Though it was probably $8000 or so cheaper than the Lariat model...
  8. Speedo reading 2 mph higher than GPS

Mine is probably 1/2 mph off at 70+. My car is about 3 mph off. The 2 Ford pickups were essentially right on. My 95 Ford Taurus was way off the other way, I never looked into why. My BMW was about the same 3mph off you see.
  9. What good is a cabin air filter

Though I just replaced the cabin filter for the second time on my sedan in 2 years and even though I'm in a dusty environment I could hardly see anything. But easy enough to replace. Since my Maverick is now over a year old, I'll see how easy it is to replace. No need to wait until it is...
  10. Who has named their Maverick Bret, Bart or Beau?

Didn't think of that. My plate has MAV in the plate. I think the most original plate I've seen is for another vehicle. IMNOTOJ. You can probably guess the vehicle and color.
  11. Who has named their Maverick Bret, Bart or Beau?

No. Not a self driving EV :)
  12. What's up with my MPG on the Hwy with my Hybrid?

In general, the faster you go the lower your fuel economy. So in theory a gas car should get better mileage in town than on the highway. But in town you are speeding up, slowing down, short distances where car doesn't warm up completely, etc. The hybrid helps reclaim some of that energy, so...
  13. Introduction and question on powertrain options

I rented a car on vacation once in Australia. Mistake that cost me over $100. But trying to get out of the rental car lot, I kept on doing the wipers because they were on the opposite side of expected for me.
  14. MPG related to MPH

I would expect over 30. But I haven't had the opportunity to check at a steady 60. Most of my trips that include 60 also included long periods of 75-80, where I drop closer to 27.
  15. Hybrid MPG gauge too high by 5.6%

Which would indicate that the gas was about 83 degrees cooler than normal for thermal contraction to account for this. Or there was a pump issue. Earlier this year I put in an "impossible" amount of gas into my car at a pump. The gauge said I had about 1/3 of a tank when I started and I put...
