I have a theory, unproven completely, that in warmer weather, the plastics in the door expand and form a better seal, reducing or eliminating these rattles. But in colder weather, when the parts contract, it's Katie bar the door.
I drew this conclusion back in August. After observing that on...
I hear you. I'm not thinking I would use this option on a frequent basis, at all. Just another tool in the toolbox - never know when you might need it!
And there is always the old "My goodness! HOW did that cable get wrapped around that connector like that?!?"
I don't think I would want to do that. The cable itself doesn't seem to want to "lay straight", and has several bends in it. More of concern is the top connector is long and skinnier, putting more moment force on it and could break. The way I am doing it, the cable stays right up against the...
I had that concern too - still do. But my test drive, with almost no load on, resulted in no suggestion that that might happen. The cable seems to set itself inside the tracks of the "bed flat" attachment point. I thought "Oh, great, now it's gonna get stuck". but, no, it just seems to settle...
Very cool! It appears that you have targeted the area behind that protruding thing molded into the door, and the area around it! And it is working! Wonderful news!
Question: Does anything go into the inside of the protrusion, or is it just ornamental for the inside of the truck? My...
I am familiar with the two tailgate positions officially provided by Ford.
But looking at the provided arrangement, it seems that there is a third position that might work. This is what I found:
The standard connection point for regular tailgate operation has a wheel with a groove -...
I've had my 2026 XLT Maverick Hybrid for about 3 months, but noticed this buzzing from the passenger front door whenever any low bass notes were played almost immediately when I got it. Not talking about heavy metal music here - playing light jazz and oldies, like the Byrds. Note that I am...
What kind of specs would the silicone pads have for this application and environment? I am thinking a strip about 2 inches long that is self-adhesive to the top edge of the tag. And I agree, with the pad in place there really is no need for the corner clip.
Aha! I thought so! Well, not all of us engineers have degrees and/or licenses to practice! But there is a gift in the soul of an engineer, regardless - and a curse. We are handy to have around, but we always feel compelled to help - even when no one thinks they need any help!
I started my...
I just did this install today. Am of the opinion that the OEM Ford tag holder also blocks about this much air flow. Also, have to look carefullyThe plate covers a portion of the area where airflow is critical - but half of it is outside of the airflow baffles - not blocking the direct airflow...
I see what you are saying (good drawings, too! Are you an engineer?). It may be that the cast aluminum is just more rigid than a conventional plate which might be more subject to bending with air flow while driving. But this is a pretty solid union of plate and mount. The following pic is of...
Actually, at that exact location, the tag is out from contact with any other parts, so I don't see that it would help. BUT... Almost dead center, where the black plastic dips down, I need some kind of something so that the rubbing between the plat and the plastic is minimized. Any ideas?
I looked for a mounting place for this, and found nothing. There is some kind of cowling under there that just covers everything up. If there is a mounting place under that, I would have to cut it all up to get to it.
At almost the same time, though, I saw this...
