Joined Farm Bureau for the $500 cash offer on a Maverick purchase. This morning while drinking my second cup of coffee, I explored the member advantage portion of their site.

They have a car buying service with Truecar. I was able to locate a Santa Cruz (sticker below) at a dealership not far from home. The Truecar price was $100 below msrp as shown on the sticker.

Zero percent financing for 48 months.

Checking things out Monday. Assume $500 doc fee will be added and I am OK with that since no ADM.

If for real, will purchase, if not walk away.

Fee to join Illinois Farm Bureau is only $25. You do not need to be a resident of Illinois, be a farmer, or own farmland.
The $500 rebate is good on any Ford truck, not just Mavericks.

Dealer texted me and asked if I could come in today, slow. Service busy but sales very slow. Large dealership, only one other customer with a salesperson.

No surprises. Truecar price in dealer system was another $20 less than original quote, $30,360 Plus T (6%) T ($359) and doc fee ($500).

I put a refundable deposit on the Santa Cruz. Should take delivery in 10 days. I will drive it until Maverick order arrives sometime late 2022 or during 2023 depending on all factors discussed in this forum.

Confident I can sell the Santa Cruz for what I paid for it when the Maverick arrives.

My Farm Bureau membership cost me $70. Cost varies by county here. Wish NJ Pinelands posted that useful info earlier. In addition to Ford, offers on John Deere and CAT equipment plus dining, hotels, vacations, etc

could always go out and buy a John Deere tractor, take a Summer vacation with it, maybe stop at Dollywood, and eat at Texas Roadhouse a lot. Now, you won’t be getting the same mpg as a Maverick hybrid with the John Deere, but you will have a lane on the interstates all to yourself and you will make a lot of new friends on your drive who will give you the thumbs up, or possibly use a different finger.

Drove the Santa Cruz yesterday. Good thing I headed for the nearest freeway on ramp. The non-turbo engine standard on SE and SEL can’t get out of its own way accelerating from almost a dead stop to highway speed when merging onto a freeway.

Overall, nothing cheap looking about materials used on the interior and exterior fit and finish good. Lots of features included in base price of vehicle.

This is a perfect vehicle for someone to throw dirty camping gear into the bed instead of the cargo area of their Subaru.

Performance was a deal breaker. Turbo is $7K more. Refund of the $100 hold appeared on my Visa account this morning.
