The price of an XLT lux and Lariat non-lux is ~$1,500 different, so not huge. However, the features swap is substantial. The lux package on the Lariat also requires the co-pilot (lame) and is just really pricey to me.

XLT Lux
  • Heated everything
  • Remote start fob
  • Spray bed liner
  • Bunch of other goodies

Lariat non-lux
  • Smooth seats (nice for cleaning up after the kids)
  • better interior colors IMHO
  • keyless start and touch entry
  • power rear window (if you can call something that small a window)
  • acoustic windshield
I’m missing a few things but hopefully the point stands: similar price but substantially different options.
Thoughts?

Sounds like you already have your mind made up. I personally went Lariat Lux/360 and black rims. I plan to roll this baby for awhile, so I wanted it to have the works as I move into my retirement years. I’ve worked to hard to skimp now.

This vehicle is really inexpensive in comparing it to other options so moving up to the Lariat was a no brainer. This coming from a guy who hasn't bought a brand new car in 28 years.

Ford Maverick XLT/Lariat.. Undecided still :O
I'm leaning towards Lariat non-lux over XLT-lux. The standard features of the Lariat I would likely use more than all of the heated stuff in the XLT-Lux.

Some of the standard Lariat (non-lux) features you didn't mention are:
1-touch up down windows
Signature lighting
Ambient lighting
Dual-zone climate control
Body color door handles
Pockets on both rear seats instead of just passenger
Illuminated vanity mirrors
6.5" productivity screen (can only get this on XLT if you add FX4)

Seems kind of silly with XLT you still have to stick a physical key into the steering column. The intelligent access I have in my current vehicle and I'm much too used to it. Same goes for the 1 touch windows, seems silly that's not standard these days.

That’s a good list! Yeah, I’m confused by the way Ford packages the trim levels for different models. My 2018 Focus ST base model had the one-touch windows and intelligent access and push-button start. I admit it is silly to be attached to that level of keyless usage, but I totally am. The difference is that I can just leave the key to n my pocket at all times, which is surprisingly nice. :)

I think the Lariat interior is hideous. So that's just that. Opinion. But it's what kept me away. I went XLT Lux.

Does anybody have experience in terms of how well the active-x seats handle medium to large dog nails?

We would be in a Lariat but I could not live with all the brown of that interior- So went with a loaded XLT in Hot Pepper Red-

what the heck is an acoustic windshield?? Wait till that gets it's first crack....is it accoustic still??? Trailer hitch and wiring with XLT Lux. It's a truck, should be able to tow something.

From the limited view we get through pictures online, the Lariat interior actually looks pretty sharp to me. Just goes to show how tastes vary.
It would be nice if Ford offered more than one interior option per trim. That may come down the road if the Maverick is as popular as it seems.

I prefer the XLT Lux package because of the heated seats, spray in bed liner, and trailer hitch. Plus, the XLT interior is a better match for the velocity blue exterior. I do not need a push start, or the tiny window, and zero need for an “acoustic windshield.“. I also included the FX4 for the other items I wanted.

We all have our reasons for our build orders, and that is what makes the Mavericks great because we can pick what we want. I have purchased or leased 20 vehicles, and this is my 1st build order.

You definitely got me thinking about this. One thing I really like about my wife’s explorer is the intelligent access. That plus the upgraded interior is almost a no brainer. Plus I’ll just get a spray in liner here and get a better warranty on it.

Thanks for the post! Time to change my order!
