I haven't taken time to research it too close so I thought I would come to the forum and ask the experts. I think the XLT premium package is a waste, much better value to just step up to a Lariat but i might not want to spend that much.
That being said if a person is just wanting to order a cheap Hybrid to flat tow behind a motorhome what all do you lose buying an XL other than the ugly steel wheels which I would replace anyway. Is the XL a way better value or is it a no brainer to go for a XLT without the prem pkg? Thanks in advance! MJ
The lariet with all the options I wanted on my XLT would have cost me $5k more. Itā€™s a very personal choice for each person to what they are looking for. Itā€™s as much a choice between getting a 22 to 24 or a 25. A lot of people donā€™t like the higher price point for the base XL and some people see value in it.

Hi Federico, yes I've been doing some research and for $2000 it looks to be all no brainer to step up fron XL to XLT. Now another $9000+ to go to a Lariat is a head scratcher. For a RV tow vehicle I'm thinking no. Add the Premiun pkg to the XLT and call it good!
Itā€™s not 9k to go from XLT + Lux to Lariat.

XL comes standard with cruise now.
Summary of differences pulled from a dealer page:

The new 2025 Ford Maverick XLT offers amenities like the following
  • In-bed cubby storage
  • Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start
  • 2K Trailer Hitch Receiver
  • 10 cargo bed tie-downs
  • 17-inch Carbonized Gray aluminum wheels
The only item that can't be added to the XL either as an option or aftermarket is push button start.
The hitch should be added to the XL factory order since aftermarket is more expensive. The rest can generally be purchased cheaper aftermarket.
If you want power mirrors, be sure to get co-pilot 360 with the XL, otherwise it comes with manual mirrors.
Does the '25 XL also still come with the full size wheel for a spare tire if you opt for the Co-pilot 360? It makes the 360 on the XL an excellent value with the power mirrors. Lower insurance rates may even defray it's cost.

Thanks, it looks to me like for the small difference in price. The XLT is worth it. It's the jump to the lariat that is stupid in price.
I thought my Lariat was well worth $37,000 because I had no worries about wishing for this or that option or a particular bell or whistle. I pretty much got them all. My 18"wheels are added cool to me.
A similar equipped XLT with the Lux package was only $1,900 less and still had less cool stuff. Plus $500 of that was an up charge for the color that I really wanted so the step up to Lariat made perfect sense to me.
The only draw back is that the seats are so dang good looking Iā€™m going to have to cover them asap. :ā€™P

Poor cat; my sympathies.

My psychotic siamese is at the other extreme; he dashes to the window to watch fireworks and thunderstorms!

We got the xlt with the luxury pkg and it was 7-8 thousand dollars less than a lariat. We are very pleased with our maverick.

For 2025, the difference between XLT+Lux and Lariat is $6,400 but that is FWD v AWD. If you go XLT+Lux AWD the difference is $4,100

Depends on what features you can live with at the end of the day, simple as that. If you want the cheapest most basic setup, an XL without 360 is the way to go. If you want things like a push button start and intelligent access (XLT and up) an XL doesn't have it. Power driver seat with lumbar support, heated seats and steering while, it's XLT lux or Lariat. Vinyl seats, fancy DRL and high end cruse control, Lariat. Those are the big differences in trim level now that they all have sync4.
I like all the extra goodies in my Lariat. It seems to be really quiet too. Maybe the acoustic windshield is making a difference?

I like my XLT with lux pkg but the only things I'd really miss is the heated steering wheel and the rims matching my carbonized grey truck colour. It's all personal preference though.

I think the XL is the one to go for.

The truck is intended to be a cheap, practical truckette. XL ensures that is true. Going higher starts to question if you might want to look elsewhere. Or at least compare.

2024 has cruise control which previously was a non-starter for the XL in my opinion. But again- itā€™s included now.

The only thing I ever miss that higher trims have is power seats & mirrors for those few occasions someone else drives the truck. But, for me, thatā€™s a one per quarter problem thatā€™s not worth the money.

At my age heated seats and steering wheel are important. Also the look of the aluminum wheels is worth the $1800 to go up to a XLT.

You let others drive your Maverick? šŸ˜±
I adjusted seats and mirrors when I took delivery and they have not moved since.
