I have never purchased window etching but the dealership insisted. I was getting a good price for the truck so I didn’t care and wanted to be done with the search fo a Maverick.
anyway, the dealer said they don’t etch the windows anymore, but the etching insurance coverage is activated. I am suspicious of that comment. Anyone have thoughts on this?

There should be paperwork on what the VIN etching insurance covers, but by and large it's just the Finance department adding a product for extra dealer profit (and their commission). Mandating it is another avenue for 'market adjustment' at present.

If they don't etch the glass with the VIN how would the insurance be of any value? The purpose of the etching is so that it's traceable. Without the etching it's not traceable.

I agree. Trying to find out if that is the case.
