Came across this today on a weather site. First you can't order a 2023 much less the 2022 listed in the ad. And they can sell everything they make without advertising.

the goal is to get you in the door, they're lonesome.

Why are they making every dealer keep a Lightning demo on the lot, when it is totally sold out?

I agree...given that most manufacturers can't keep up with demand right now, you'd think they'd be smart enough to cut back on their advertising budget until things loosen up.

It definitely gives you that "right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing" feeling about their operation.

I've seen one base model in dealer prep, sold. None on lots near me.

Every dealer near me has a white Lightning sitting there, and my salesman told me it's just there for test drives and can't be sold. Can't be ordered either lol

Don't forget, everyone waiting on a Maverick isn't buying a Chevy, Toyota or a Hyundai.
Yeah you might not be able to order one until 2024, but keeping it out in front of you makes you question if you really want that Taco or Colorado instead of waiting.
It's all about market dominance.

Look at it this way. Someone said let's cut back on chip orders during covid. Now they are saying I am not going to suggest on cutting back on anything!

It’s like when Charmin kept running ads during COVID lockdown when TP was like gold.. total waste of ad dollars.

If it had not been for a chance sighting of a Ford Representative's Maverick on the dealer lot, I would not even have known they existed because Ford ran no ads for it.

Maybe Ford is running ads now to help dealers sell their own orders, or, it's an ad for the financing options more than the Maverick.

Only reason I have a 23 order was because I was playing around with Capital One's car search tool and accidentally triggered my dealer who reached out to me. Otherwise, I'd have never known the ordering thing was how it worked.
