Can we agree the dial shifter is a bad idea too? Year and half plus and still have to look at it to shift.

Placing the handle open in the front would make the door naturally want to open when applying force. The handle really only gets used to close the door, as pulling the release (open at the front) automatically pushes the door open. I don't see where it's backwards at all.

My experience- The harder you pull, the more likely your hand is to slip off. (Here’s a “Better Idea” - the harder you pull, the LESS likely you are to lose your grip)

I have no issue with the dial shifter. My hand finds it naturally and the readout in the dash confirms what mode you are in.

I push the door open and then when getting in, pull the "rear facing" grip, handle, what ever you want to call it. It works.

People complained about this same issue on the Sport Trac....but I also own that truck too ! So....I don't seem to mind 😂
I owned a Sport Trac 20 years ago and don’t even remember the door handle shape. Must not have been an issue.

No, we can't agree. If going from park or reverse to drive you need to look at nothing. You can turn it right as much as you want and it will only go into drive. A minor glance when putting it into reverse, and no look again when putting it into park. Why do people complicate the most basic tasks so much?

49 Chevy 3 on the tree. 69 SAAB 4 on the tree (plus reverse). 4, 5 and 6 speed motorcycles shifted with my left foot. Polaris Slingshot 5 on the floor. Too many other makes and models to even mention. Each with it's own idiosyncracies.
The rotary: forward, backward, neutral, park is a snap.
If it's too hard, walk.

Personally, I don’t see an issue with the door, and have nothing against the dial shifter. But I will say that I dread how my toddler will respond to the dial 🤦‍♀️ lol

It isn’t possible for the shifter to work when the truck is off right?
