Oh wow… I have had about 40 cars. The closest to it was an 80’s S10 extra cab. When the sad 2.8L engine died (again) I bought a 1999 VW new Beetle. Great car.

I got hooked on reliable solid mpg until I bought a Chevy Volt and it’s AMAZING!. I still have the Volt and it’s the reason we look forward to getting our Maverick. I love the idea of hybrid gas mileage for road trips into the mountains and unfortunately there are no EV chargers up there.

Im not sure if the hybrid Mav will beat the Volt, but it will do more “stuff” so it’s going to be close first or second even w/o a plug in.

I have only owned two fords in my life 65 and 68 mustangs. If the Maverick stacks up, the next new car could very well be the Mach-E.

I was sitting here thinking the Maverick is already one of my favorite vehicles I’ve owned over the years past and present… so I made a ranking list of my vehicles. Mighty Maverick is #2.
Blue = currently owned.

Where does the maverick fit on your list?

Tesla Model Y 2021

Ford Maverick 2022

Tesla Model 3 2018

Smart Cabriolet 2018

Ford Escape Hybrid AWD 2020

Chrysler New Yorker 1990

Mercedes-Benz C230 2006

Mercedes-Benz ML320 1998

Ford F150 2004

Chrysler 300M 2002

Lincoln Town Car 1990

Toyota Yaris 2007

Volkswagon Jetta 2008

Smart 2009

Escape 2006
#1: 2001 Ford Escape (SENTIMENTAL PIC) - 1st vehicle I ever owned, nothing quite like it.

#2: 2022 Ford Maverick

#3: 2002 Ford Escape. - Huge dropoff after #3. I replaced this with the Maverick, but I still own it. That's how much I like it.

#4: 2002 Pontiac Grand Am - I've only ever owned 4 vehicles, so this is by far the bottom of the barrel. 4 cylinder car-so great on gas, but that's about it.

My 2014 F150 was hands down my favorite. I’ve owned a lot of junk though and I had bought the F150 new. Only sold it because it was a gas hog. I hope the Maverick is my new favorite. I already want the Maverick more than any other car I’ve ever owned. That could be a good or bad thing.

I cant say I have a favorite. I bought what I could afford. That limited me severely. As I climbed the ladder monetarily, I topped out at about 30K for a Ford 3 door Lariat, fully loaded. BFD. I had two shitty little volkswagons that almost killed me. And several other transportations vehicles in between. Now I have a 2022 ford escape phev that is an over priced "economy'' green machine car. So take what you will from my comments. And have a great day ! And yes, I ordered and deleted a Ford Maverick . From What I see of this escape hybrid I have, dont waste your $ on a Maverick.

1982 RX7
1988 RX7
1984 626

The 626 gets special mention. I bought it for CAD $100 off a guy who had never changed the oil. I put another motor in it and drove it for 3 years and about 50K miles. I sold it to my dad who drove it for another 7 years. He gave it to my brother who destroyed it in two.

The Maverick EcoBoost is descended from that same engine, with a few generations of improvement.

Suprised to see multiple Rx7s in one list. I am a little envious. What can you attribute to the big gap between the two in your list?

My wife had a 626. I remember nothing but it being super slow.

It's a quiet Friday night and I'm vegging out, and this has me waxing philosophical. How do I choose? Comfort? Reliability? Handling? Utility? So I've ranked my cars based on my memories of the ones I just liked hanging out with. It's heavily influenced by what was happening in my life at the time. My 56 Pontiac was not a great car, but it was my first, bought when I was 22 and graduating from college, with money borrowed from my parents, to drive from Missouri to California for my first engineering job. And the used British sports cars I had when I was young rate higher than the good handling, reliable family cars I had later. So here goes. I don't have the Maverick yet, so I've slotted in the Maverick where I think/hope it will go. The X's and question marks are where I'm not sure of the year.

195X Sunbeam Alpine
1960(?) Triumph TR4
2022 Ford Maverick
195X Triumph TR3
1980(?) Honda Accord fastback
1990(?) Toyota pickup
2000 Toyota Tundra
2018 Honda CRV
2005 Honda CRV
1975(?) Datsun B210
1970(?) Volvo station wagon
1956 Pontiac
1995(?) Ford Ranger
1985 (?) Ford Aerostar van
1966 Ford Fairlane
1956(?) Plymouth
1999 Bounder RV

I would have got a hybrid but up in Canada with the chip shortage/high prices for Toyotas and a family of 5, Maverick was a good deal. I also do all my basic auto services (oil changes/tire rotations/brakes).

I’ve owned many cars, vans, minivans, station wagons, a few different hybrid cars, and trucks since I was 18, and now I’m 62.

It would be hard to rank any of my vehicles because they all came in different parts of my life, and all served different needs.

I’ll start off with my most unfavorite vehicles of all time. Dodge Grand Caravan. It gave me the most trouble mechanically. I bought it new and got rid of it within a few years. Second most unfavorite was a 1982 Chevy Cavalier. Returned it under the Lemon Law. Most unfavorite truck was a Chevy Silverado. The turning base was terrible, plus it sucked down gas faster than I could put it in. Most unfavorite cargo van was a GMC Savanna. The rear differential went out several times, once under warranty, and once not. Plus it had transmission trouble.

For favorite vehicles, a Toyota Prius which we owned for seven years. My wife wanted a larger vehicle to go to yard sales to haul stuff with. My favorite was a Honda Element. I was a long distance bike rider. I was able to put both of my road bikes and gear inside and still have room.

All of those vehicles served a purpose for their time whether I loved them or hated them.

For this time period, the Maverick is the small truck I have always dreamed about. Mine is a hybrid and serves as a multipurpose truck. I love the way it drives and rides, the gas mileage, and versatility of it. It’s low enough to the ground where I can get in and out of easily, has Plenty of bed space for my needs, and towing capacity to haul my 5’ x 8’ utility trailer.

Way to early to tell, about the Maverick
but Dodge and Nissan would be dead last. Probably owned 20 pickups and maybe 30 car including the kids cars.
