By the time my Maverick arrives in Central Maine, it will be close on winter and salt season. I am going to get a SIBL and probably undercoating. The latter is done by the dealership, but the liner is done by a nearby detailer/body shop that has a great reputation. I'd like to have them do a outside detail/waxing while they have it.

Back in the days of unfounded optimism, I purchased the Lund bug deflector and the shiny chrome/stainless lettering for the tailgate. I don't know if I can get the dealership to install them prior to getting the other work done, so I'm wondering if it will be a problem getting the extras to properly adhere after having the car waxed. What order should these exterior mods/protective coatings be applied?

Edit: might ask the detailers to do the install prior to their normal service if it's a part of their normal work. I just want to make sure that it's done right.

I had purchased an aftermarket bug deflector that didn't fit. So, I purchased the Ford bug deflector. It literally adheres to the front of the hood. Looks good and does a good job and is a perfect fit. Follow the instructions carefully for installation. Follow installation temperature guidelines when installing the lettering and bug shield as both these items may be stick on installs.

Saw 2 Mavs with the Ford branded "bug deflector". It fits like a GLOVE so much that I am betting my kids or Santa get it for me for Christmas. ;)

As to the letters on the tailgate, if you park indoors, it should be warm enough to put em on. Just make sure to clean and dry the tailgate, then rewet it with warm, soapy water. Allows you to move the letters in to place very easily. Then pat dry. Works great!

Good luck!

Just got off a Ford CS chat, learned my build week was pushed back 3 weeks to 9/26. By the time it gets delivered it should be the middle of fall and too cold for me to be attempting these installs, no heat in my garage. I'll have to get the dealer or the detailer to oblige me, whatever it costs. Thanks for the tips, guys. Just one more question: did you apply these to an unwaxed truck?

I would. I would also wait for the spring and drop that coin on a liftgate dampener and a few other mods.

Good idea. Not too many bugs to deflect in a Maine winter.

If the items are stick on , wax has to be removed . the matte black plastic letters I purchase from Amazon gave me the alcohol pads to use after the area is cleaned and dried . temp has to be moderate .
