? What thread is the antenna?

Now that I have a email saying my Mav has shipped, at this point I will only believe it when I sign the paperwork, but I'm getting the itch to start designing things.

With that said, does anyone know the thread size of the antenna, and the height of the shark fin in front of antenna?

I know craven speed has a stubby antenna, but i want one that drops below the shark fin.

I'm wanting to go shorter that the craven speed one. Their site has pictures of it on the maverick and it still is above the shark fin portion of the antenna

I originally purchased one from Amazon that was supposed to fit, it did not. Craven Speed is the way to go!

I've seen the pictures of that one, and it is still taller than my liking. I'd like one more this height (want it to below the fin in front of it)

That's why I am trying to figure out the thread so I can design one to be short enough, not concerned with reception, just like the lower profile look and not snagging things when I put a roof rack on for kayaks and paddle boards.

I searched high and lo for a short antenna. The shortest is the Craven Stubby Jr.

Wonder if the shark fin can be replaced with another type. ........ found these:

I'm interested in the omac one, wonder if it would slide over the factory one. At the very least the way they have the antenna being attached via a wire might be something to look into. I might just make a stubbier stubby one, or one that could fill in the area. Just need my truck for prototypes.

Looking at the internal construction, the antenna is built in and looks like it provides a wider reception footprint.

Decided to look on the parts.ford.com website and interestingly when you search for antenna's for the maverick you get these options:

This one look like what I want... just don't want to spend $100 on it, it says it fits the bronco sport and mav. Plugs look the same as on the one with the antenna (linked below)

Too short and reception-wise you probably might as well just leave the antenna off and plug the hole.

There wouldn't be much difference in reception between the craven speed stubby and one 1/2in shorter. Granted I could care less about reception since I stream everything. in my 2 hour a day commute I haven't used the radio in almost 6 years after the short antenna on my Vibe was knocked off loading a kayak, hence why I want short.

I'm not that opposed to plugging the hole, Craven does make a antenna delete for the f-150 that I could always make something like that.

Thanks. I put this one on yesterday.

Works as well as the original for SiriusXM and HD Radio, and looks better.

Totally agree!! I replaced my antenna with one from craven Speed and am very pleased with the quality and support(if you need it) from them.
