What are the chances the battery will explode?

I really want to get the Hybrid version since I will be using this as my personal/work truck. I really only need a ladder for work so no heavy load. This will be my first hybrid vehicle so I did what anyone with a doubt would do, l searched Google. Started doing some research on hybrids and one of the cons was the battery explode. In all honesty this freaked me out, especially since my daughter would be sitting in the back be in the backseat where the battery is.

I have seen on the news some Teslas go up in flames because of exploding batteries. Any previous or current hybrid owners have any thoughts about this?

To answer your question, the chance is very low. Just as low as any automotive battery exploding.

Zero concern here. Working on Ford hybrids since 2006, owned one personally since 2014. Have never even replaced a Ford Hybrid battery, much less see one incinerate itself. I took a mandated hybrid veh electrical system safety and handling course for Ford and have yet to see or even hear about Ford's own predicted worst case scenarios from back in 2005, so I think we're OK.

Just speculation here, but hybrid batteries, despite being smaller, aren't worked as hard as full electric vehicle batteries since they share heavy loads with the gas powertrain.
