I own a MY25 Maverick. Every time I plug in my USB I keep getting this error message. I've checked multiple threads but only saw MY22 etc and nothing for MY25.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just got this truck in March.

It sounds dumb, but double check your USB cable isn't just for charging. It may not have the data lines for letting your phone communicate.
It's intermittent so sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. It's still charges but the error message happens and it won't connect to the truck. But again it's just intermittent because sometimes I have zero problems at all.

not dumb at all; it's very likely to be a bad cable.

other possibilities could be a drive that isn't formatted correctly for the maverick to read it, or has a corrupted filesystem.

probably the cable. cheap cables on amazon are frequently an issue.

Not a dumb question at all. But it does work intermittently so good advice I will try another cable and see if I get the same message

My bad, cable C Type to usb
Yeah - but what's on the other side of the cable the truck is trying to talk TO?

The truck and device are merely talking THRU the cable.

C Type is USB actually, so I'm assuming you mean a different style USB end for the other side?

Usually if one side is complaining, the other side is too, or giving options to be selected.
Sadly I had a phone that only popped up something for like mere sec and it was gone, if not clicked forget moving forward with connection.

I forgot one other possibility.

@HeyBales just reminded me that there have been a few instances of people having issues with the USB ports but this is pretty rare that I can tell. (Handful of posts about it in 3+ years.)

It's a warranty fix if this does happen. The way to prove it is using multiple devices with multiple cables *that work in other applications* and consistently fail in the Maverick. If that happens, you have bad USB ports in the truck.

Sorry Not familiar with the lingo. My phone is C type and I'm connecting to the port in the truck. Not to see type but the other one. I believe it's called a USB port? There's only two of them on the MY25 in the front.
Hopefully that helps

I recommend using the USB Cable that came with your phone. They are usually the best for data and charging. Also, check the phone immediately after connecting because sometimes you have to click on certain settings to allow the phone to connect to the Ford system.
If none of that helps, see the dealer. You may have bad wiring or something else going on in the truck.

Oh god I hope it's a bad cable. I don't have time to argue with the dealership:(.

I'll try that!
Appreciate you and everyone for their feedback! 😌

Good idea.

I know they dropped the USB charger in many phone packages, but at least kept the cable.

As mentioned by Colini - the cheap cables available everywhere can be a problem.

Some won't allow full charging that is possible, others no data or poor data speeds - despite their claims and high ratings. ("I just got the cable, looks like good quality, 5 stars" - useless)
