We were never able to see, touch or drive one before seeing it arrive at the dealer Friday and delivery on Monday. A good listen on what to expect while waiting. Cold start, 67 miles, base hybrid XL. One of my co-workers suggested it sounds like an “air compressor”.

Ford Maverick What a Hybrid Maverick sounds like…. a good listen on what to expect while you wait EC443EF4-5803-4883-98E4-EE126F5A2613

That’s about right on cold starts.

Mine did the same. Hopefully replacing the powertrain control module will eliminate it.

I picked up my XLT hybrid Mav Monday 3/6 also :)
Sure does sound weird on electric and the reverse beeping makes me laugh. Like how it drives.

What I like is how it hits a steady idle, no fluctuations in park, on these chilly mornings. I've yet to pop the hood and listen there and at the tailpipe. I suppose it's a good idea to benchmark it while it's still under a 1000 miles.

Atkinson Cycle engines are noisy. Period. This is especially true when cold and the timing is set on the extreme end of the scale. Add this to an engine compartment with no sound deadening, well there you have it. Nothing wrong here.

I agree. I was not indicating any issues at all, just the "sound of economy" this fine vehicle makes.

No matter what you do you will not get rid of that noise it's a hybrid and I see you don't have an engine cover

Sounds the same as my '23, I want to say, i'm no engineer that the "higher pitch" whistle or electrical sound is the starter/generator creating power while its idling?

Hard to explain that since some "NO OFFENSE" older folks including my dad would not hear that high pitch of a sound.

Not annoying by any means.

Definitely some weird and interesting sounds to get used to on the hybrid, clicks, the whirring of the front grille shutters opening and closing on startup, etc.....

If its running fine, and there's no smells, I chalk it up to the engineers know what they're doing and its a NEW noise.
