..I'm seen them on vehicles in parking lots but never owned one personally. I don't like the fact they are plastic. With time UV kills plastic. In Florida I wouldn't expect it to last long. The last thing I'd want to do is step on it and it crumble and I kill my knee AGAIN.

I think most people get them to protect their rear bumper from jack-holes like happened to me last week in a Home Depot parking lot,,,Looks nice.
But a question I have is do you need one for the Maverick. This is NOT a tall truck. Pictures I've seen on the forum show you being able to reach into the bed. There was another guy sitting on the opened tailgate and his feet were maybe 6" (it was hard to tell). I think he mentioned he was 5'9" but I may be wrong. So do you need a step?
