Was my Maverick sold out from under me despite my order?

I ordered my 2.0L Maverick fx4 the week they opened the orders last year. Ford notified me when it was built and shipped. The last i heard about this vehicle was when it shipped 06/29/23. I have not heard a thing from Long Lewis Ford in Hoover Alabama since. I have called to get info 3 times and still have no answers. I put $500 down to place the order. Crickets from the dealership.

They defiantly hosed you. I would contact a lawyer, probably won't do much good but who knows. I would be contacting Ford directly, I would go into the dealership and raise hell with management, then if all else fails I would just blast them on every social media and every website that they advertise their inventory on. Not sure what news organizations there are around you but you might be able to find one that will put them on blast for their shady practices. Good luck!

It surprises me the number of people who see that their order shipped and are not compulsively tracking it to the dealer. Dealers have a long history of shady shit and I wouldn't trust them with anything of substance. I thankfully had a good experience but I also stayed on top of my dealers through the whole process. I saw when that my truck was being delivered that day, I immediately left work, went to the bank, and went to the dealership. I didn't give them a chance to sale it out from under me.

I have a document titled a custom retail order agreement from them. It states you have 3 days to complete the purchase of the vehicle after you've been contacted that it arrives. It specifically said who would contact me. If you don't purchase after those 3 days post-contact are up, they can then sell it.

I'd say take that down there and speak to management in person. If they can't prove that signed person contacted you...I'd think they have no leg to stand on.

DCCPT, you should go to them and get the whole story. If they can’t prove they contacted you per the agreement, you should go to Fox6 On Your Side and have them investigate and make it public. Long Lewis will not like that, they want people to think they are a bunch of good ol boys but they are corporate now days. At a minimum they owe you $500! I ordered mine from Stivers Ford downtown. It is at the Intermodal facility waiting to be delivered to the dealership. I am texting (there is a record when you text) every day since I saw that it hit the Intermodal Rail Yard. We will see what happens.

These experiences make X-Plan purchases that much more comforting. The price is clear up front and shown on your Preview DORA Order, and even the WS will reflect that it was an X-Plan Custom order.

It isn't that hard for anyone to qualify for X-Plan for a $35-$48 expenditure if needed. Then all you have to do is find a dealer who will accept X-Plan. It is worth the search, even if you need to go outside your local dealer.

You could try filing a better business bureau complaint against the dealer. My understanding is that they facilitate communications between the two parties to make it harder for them to ghost you.

Did you find your signed order agreement? I'm not defending the dealer, but you will have a harder case if you never received a signed order agreement or if they can prove they attempted to contact you.

I was in personal contact with my salesman throughout the entire process, even if his only response was "no update." That did two things: kept my involvement on their radar as well as ensured they had a way to contact me. I was at the dealership within 10 minutes after it finished inspection.

There has been a lot of Ford dealers on both sides of the boarder pulling unethical stuff on customer's who have jumped thru the hoops to order the ford maverick. Use the local news to escalate this and ask the local to see what ford usa says about how this ford dealer have stole from you. Enough people do this and the dealer can lose the right to sell new ford's.
