I had the opportunity to see and drive a Maverick XLT locally while I wait for my hybrid.
Ecoboost engine has plenty of power. Fit and finish on the Maverick was very good.
Dash plastic is where Ford saved a bit of money, but it is solid and appropriate at this price point.
Driving position and comfort were very good for me. A bit less rearview mirror visibility than I would like, but side mirrors were good. I didn't take a peak under the hood.
Only item that I saw and disliked was a Vinyl "Cowling" between the dash and the steering column. It looked cheap and contrived to me. It appeared to me as a piece of vinyl fabric and the fit was not well done. The reason I post here is because I have not seen any other posters mention it.
I also noticed some vibration in the steering wheel when underway. I attribute this to possibly poor wheel balance, or a tire out of round. An issue that I think can be diagnosed & corrected at the dealer level.
The dealer unit was red, and it is very very nice in person.
Overall impression, is that I am very glad that I have one on order.
