This elaborate production process kind of shows why keeping it simple and available options to a minimum keep cost down.

Amazing how quickly things move especially with all of the robotics and automation

I agree, this is devastating to our great country. I enjoyed the fact that automotive manf was starting to come back the the US, but it now looks like things have started to take a step in the wrong direction. Its interesting Japan, Germany, and even China are building their plants in the USA and the US manf decided to build in Mexico. Im in Automation and the skill to run that plant resides in the USA. It hurts my heart to see manf from US manufacturers leaving. I would pay more for a product made here.
Evidently everyone is forgetting about NAFTA signed by President George H.W. Bush in 1994. Basically making Canada- US-Mexico a trade free zone to "raise all workers up" which had the intended consequence of sending jobs to Mexico due to the fact labor was much cheaper and much lower government restrictions. The Hermosillo plant opened in 1968 eventually going from stamping to vehicle building making the Ford Escort and Mercury Tracer in 1988 ( https://corporate.ford.com/operatio...s/hermosillo-stamping-and-assembly-plant.html) so it is certainly not "new". Manufacturing isnt as much "leaving" to Mexico as the models produced in Hermosillo prior - Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion ending production in 2020 have been replaced by the Bronco Sport in 2020 and Maverick in 2021. It is a relatively small plant in terms of Ford productions - 2870 employees and 279 acres as compared to say the Kansas City Plant which employees 7250 employees and has 1269 acres. Im all for American jobs too however this isnt anything new - more American auto workers were put out of work by automation than Mexico ever has.

Actually it was the Moving assembly line, I believe.

Can you be more specific to what feels flimsy ?

Assuming you meant "off" road? Keep in mind, the Mav version of "off-road" is gravel/dirt roads, not "true" off-road, as it relates to trails and such.
For me it was some of the small details. I’m not a fan of the door weatherstripping, both the material and the installation isn’t what I’m use to seeing. Another example The rear shock towers have a 2 or 2.5” are black plastic rather than a typical steel shock. It has the appearance or being a nice HD shock, but it is deceptive. Granted the shock is actually mounted inverted with the piston rod at the top. I was still not impressed with the quality. The upper and lower A arms look super light duty and well as the skid guards. Maybe that is why they need 13 bolts to secure. I would enjoy hearing from the new Bronco owners to how it compares.

Don’t get me wrong at the 20k level seems to be a great bargain, but on the other end of the spectrum around 40K compared to a Toyota seems not nearly as good. I think a lift or bigger tires might be too much for the Maverick drive train. These are only my initial thoughts, I need to drive it more to get a better feel.

It looks very heavily automated, and if so, why couldn't they build the plant here in the United States? The excuse is usually the "American labor rates are too high", but it doesn't seem super labor intensive, and with automation like that the jobs it creates would be decently high paying desirable ones to program and maintain that sophisticated equipment.
The problem is, the unions, not the ability to have built this factory here. Unfortunately the unions have outgrown themselves and have done more harm than good. I have the US BMW factory about 10 miles from me and it is even more amazing, but not a union in site. It does work here, but unfortunately the legacy US auto companies are stuck with the unions and all the baggage they bring. Thus, we have this high tech factory in Mexico. Go figure.

Very cool to watch the whole process, I don’t even have a vin yet. I ordered an XLT 2.0 FWD early October!

I loved the video! It's mesmerizing to say the least. Unfortunately I received an email from Ford this morning moving my build date from Nov. 1st to the 8th. Not the end of the world (it's only a weeks difference) but I was hoping it was moving it to production. ☹
Thanks for the video and the pictures!!!

Thanks for this great video. I was pleased to see that they were building "my" truck - Velocity Blue Hybrid Lariat.

I retired from Ford after working in the same plant for 47 years. While I didn't work in an assembly plant, in my role in Quality Engineering in a components plant (lighting systems) I often visited assembly plants and got to see the gradual move to robotics in both the assembly plants and in our own component plants. This video just blows me away, seeing how far they have come in the 10 years since I retired.

Ford emailed me saying not till next year on mine. But I got to check one out at the local ford dealers, It makes the wait even harder. MKvaalen XL Hybrid.
Checked our Ford dealer in town the nearest town over. Both had a couple of Mavericks come in and they were sold immediately. Won't be hearing on my hybrid order until at least sometime in Dec at the earliest, and I'm expecting a ship date in late Jan or early Feb.

I did not know that the Maverick and Bronco Sport were built on a mixed line like that. I just assumed it was one, then the other. All one type for X amount of vehicles, and then a complete switch. By week, or by month. And maybe they don't actually mix them like it appeared in the video. But it sure appeared that way.

Thanks for posting the video!
Yes built on one line with no particular mix. That is how it is done now at various assembly plants. Multiple platforms on one line.
