1) Has anyone heard anything from Ford about if you want both the Tow and Off Road Package if you still get charged the full price for both even though they both have some of the same features such as the fan?

2) When I did my build I didn't see a full size spare option with the Tow or Off Road packages - do I still need to add that separately?

3) Does the XLT come with a door keypad standard - I couldn't figure that out. I would love to have this feature as when I go surfing I currently hide my keys in my shock/spring coil in the wheel well and it would be awesome to just unlock the truck with the door code.

Thank you - just submitting my build to the dealer today and wanted to verify these before hitting submit.

My build -

XLT Carbonized Grey
300A
4K Tow Package
Ford Co-Pilot 360
FX4 Off-Road Package
17" Unique Aluminum Wheels
225/65 R17 A/T Tires
Bed Extender
Bedliner - Spray In
Full Size Spare Tire
Wheel Lock Kit
Floor Liners

P.S. - Anyone see any aftermarket toppers/cap/canopy options show up yet? The factory one in the leaked pics is so ugly. I want a straight top one so I can add roof racks for my surfboards / kayaks. I don't need the extra bump up height - I think a straight one will look much sleeker.

Thank you - great that it will have the keypad!

One other question - with the FX4 package you lose the ECO / Sport options - I wonder what that will mean for daily driving. I only would be off road 10% of the time, mostly camping, some beach sand possibly, and lots of mountain snow for skiiing each year.

Will you get worse MPG without the eco mode and will you lose some HP or acceleration without the Sport mode by going with the FX4 package?

Sucks that you have to lose those modes when you add that package.

Skip the FX4 package to keep ECO and Sport options. With the higher gear ration of 4k towing and your little time offroading and what the Maverick will be capable of, you can replicate the other modes with two foot driving and a little practice. All these computer modes werent around but offroading has been or they were called low 1,2,3 and came standard in the distant past.

Interesting - I drive like a grandma anyway most of the time so I don't think I'd miss the sport mode too much. I get amazing gas milage compared to most guys I know who tend to stomp on the gas. I also tend to drive barefoot much of the year.

So perhaps not having the eco mode wouldn't be such a big deal. I do drive on the beach here so the sand mode would be preferable.

One thing I like about the FX4 is simply resale value. I've owned multiple trucks over the years and the ones badged with off-road always maintained their value better and sold easier.

Tough decisions. Seems stupid they have to drop modes when everything is controlled electronically these days.

The Bronco Sport gets a Sand drive mode IIRC, and the Maverick does not.

Not to make you doubt a Maverick :) but what will you be mostly using the vehicle for? beach driving? hauling kayak & board?

I drove my 2wd, manual, 4 cyclinder Toyota pre runner up and down the Outerbanks for years without “sand mode”. The key was deflate tires and NO SPINNING. Heck I see more off-road package vehicles stuck now because they think if I push the button I am good to go and leave tires fully inflated

If all these modes make you feel safer and more confident go for it but most of its is 5th avenue hyperbole and looks good on tv commercials with the capacity of the Maverick. The money you save on FX 4 can be better used on a portable air compressor and a couple of recovery boards.

Full size spare would be separate still since only the hybrid gets it free with some of the packages. As for the lost modes they modified the loss you will loose eco and slippery now I believe to gain mud and sand.

Thank you for the info on the spare. Really strange they didn't include the full size spare as part of a towing or off road package. Some of these choices are very bizarre.

And in all silly-ness - The manual mentions voiding the warranty if off roading without the FX4 package. What does Ford Consider " Off - roading " ? Only way to add the 6.5 gauge cluster upgrade is with the FX4 when putting together an XLT build , Plus I am hearing that ground clearance on the AWD version goes from 8.6 to 9.0 when adding FX4 - Can anyone confirm ?
