Got rear-ended, no air bags deployed. Rear body rail kinked/collapsed. Very labor intensive to replace the pair. In short, I hope you don't experience getting rear-ended, even at low speeds. Good luck truck club! Now I'm a former Maverick owner. Probably not again.

It sucks it happened to you. I hope everyone is ok

On September 30th 2024 I started keeping an informal tally about Mavericks being a cracked windshield and rear end accident magnet.

Sorry to hear, both that you were rear-ended and likely not replacing it with another Maverick. I thought about that decision for a long time. Looked at other options (there still aren't) and replacing with a AWD Hybrid.

So sorry...I go out of my way to watch for people riding my bumper. The Maverick without a frame/unibody structure makes it prone to rear-end totaling. Seems just a minor rear-end bump tends to total a Maverick.

I searched for Maverick rear-end collisions and others are seeing a high rate of excessive damage to rear end hits: (A pretty significant finding)

Which, in regards to safety, is a good thing, and is by design.

I'd rather have the unibody rails absorb the energy in a crash, and total the vehicle, than have a rigid vehicle which transfers more impact energy to the occupants.

Add me to the cracked windshield list, Glen.
It happened when I had 994 miles on my new Mav.

The NHTSA and IHS both say the majority of modern collisions are rear end, with driver distraction as the main causal factor. It''s one reason why they have mandated collision assist going forward.

As someone who refuses to own a cell phone, I believe there should be a cell phone tax that goes directly into a rear end collision insurance fund.

I have a persistent and probably unreasonable concern with getting rear-ended. It seems like one of those road hazards which I have the least amount of control over.
It's turned me into a fairly annoying person on the road. And I don't have a problem with that.
I replaced my third brake light (up on the cab) with a four-flash-then-solid lamp. Does it make a difference? Frankly if it makes a 1% difference I'm okay with it.
I'm also one of those granny drivers who, when approaching a signal or a stop begins a slowdown likely sooner than necessary, easing into the stop.
As far as distracted drivers, people on the phone, drunk, whatever, I have no control and I cast my fate to the wind.

How about the insurance of the dumb ass that hit you having to immediately rent you a truck and paying Full price, every penny for you to go get or order a brand new Maverick with the exact equipment or better.

But then again so many would try and get hit right !

Bumpers, fenders and a frame worked wonders. Collapsible plasteaka throw away thin metal crumple zones. Yepee! Better is questionable.
