I have always maintained a minimal tool kit for roadside emergencies in each of my vehicles. Usually, that has meant a canvas tool bag thrown into a corner of the trunk. I had a similar set up for my Maverick until recently.
Harbor Freight has introduced an item that that I welcomed to replace my well worn canvas tool tote. Their Mini Steel Tool Box has a top compartment and two ball bearing slide drawers, each with a rubber drawer liner. Size-wise, the mini tool chest is perfect for dropping into the under the rear seat compartment on the driver’s side of my hybrid.
I have the top compartment loaded with a screwdriver set and a pair of slip pliers. The first drawer holds a 1/4” deep socket set with ratchet breaker bar handles. The second drawer is for a metric open and box combination wrench set. Separate from the tool box in the same under the seat location, I have an inexpensive cased 3/8” socket set and a plastic utility case for my tire plugging items. I like the convenience of HF’s product and recommend it as an accessory to other Maverick owners. Also, I would be interested in hearing what others believe are appropriate for rounding out my tool selection, perhaps a set of Vise-Grips?
