I want an all season,
I want light as possible,
Open tread blocks if possible,
Super quiet is a priority,
Best hydroplaning resistance,

Cost means nothing to me, within reason, I’d like to stay under a grand.

Penny for your thoughts guys ?
Before the penny vanishes, I’ll feel silly saying, ‘Nickel for your thoughts.

Whatcha running that your dead sure you’ll replace with the same tire ?

I don’t need the big tire look but I want to go to 235 wides from my 225/60R 18’s
Just for a bit more rubber on the road.

Does this prerequisite mean you're looking for an A/T or M/T tire? I ask mostly because it seems somewhat at-odds with the rest of your wishlist.

If you're okay with a tire that has zero off-road aspirations, I've yet to find one that is better at year-round quiet, comfortable cruising than the Michelin Defender 2.

They don't have the Dudebro look to pull off tough guy cosplay, but... neither does the Maverick?

Open tread blocks if possible,

Not technically an all-season, but I've been extremely happy with my Firstone Destination AT2s. I will most certainly buy another set again when these run out.

No hydroplaning, great in the snow, and not very loud at all. Of course though, louder than the OEM Pirellis.

I like BF Goodrich as a solid, replacement tire for my ride...and the bonus here is that the BFG is an XL rated tire....but, that would add a few pounds to the overall weight of the tire.

Firestones are a good choice as, for me, Ford and Firestone are like peas and carrots. They just belong together. This is an SL rated tire, so it would be lighter than the BFG.

Thanks guys,
Open tread blocks do a bit better climbing my steep gravel roads. But I’d like to stay away from AT tires.

Exactly !

I’m rarely off pavement, when I am it’s gravel fire roads, road bond #57.

The AWD system is never working hard.
it’s really good on my dicey sections.

Defender 2’s, I’ll look at those as well as the Firestone tires.

@Cherokee, I should have added a pic of my tire tread. They do have open tread blocks. I'd say these are like a mild AT tire.

Michelins are a top choice and in this case, splits the difference between the BFG and Firestones in price, weight and style...BFG weighs 35 lbs and is an XL tire, Firestone weighs 25 lbs and is an SL tire, Michelin weighs 29 lbs and is an XL tire....

BTW, you see I particularly like shopping for tires....

You’ve liked the OEM Michelins, they have worn well, and provide your Maverick with capabilities to climb your roads better than any other AWD suv your neighbors have.

why change?

Fwiw, the last leg of road to my weekend place is nearly a mile long, steeply inclined, rutted and so in need of fresh gravel that it basically qualifies as dirt at this point and the Defenders have handled it fine.

...In a fwd Prius V. For years.

IMO (for me) the only thing that will go on my vehicles are Michelin. Take a look at the Defender2 or the CrossClimate2. Other than my 2 cents, get whatever makes YOU happy

Not technically an all-season, but I've been extremely happy with my Firestone Destination AT2s. I will most certainly buy another set again when these run out.
My last Ranger (2008), came with Destinations and I was able to put on two more sets.
Before trading the pup in on my Maverick...

I've been very happy with the Pirelli Scorpion AS 3's in the vanilla bean all-season tire category, but that was somewhat price driven since Sam's Club discounts them, and consumer reports gave them the top score for rolling resistance (fuel mileage). $725 with taxes, installed for 4x tires. Only complaint is they are slightly undersized compared to the OE Conti TX on the 17" wheels, so my speedometer is off by ~1 MPH per 40.

Can't go wrong with the tried and true Michelin Defender 2 either, and the Conti Tour54 also looks like a nice option for high end AS tires.
