It does. It keeps your acceleration constant on fairly straight roads for long stretches. If you are driving for like an hour or more usually your speed fluctuates as your foot tires and you put less pressure on the pedal then you correct it.
I get better gas mileage without cruise control. Cruise control is dumb for all intents and purposes, if you're on an uphill section of highway it sees speed decreasing and accelerates without consideration for engaging the turbo or not. Not using cruise I can feather the throttle and keep the engine out of boost whereas cc just accelerates to get back to the speed setting as soon as possible. In theory your statement would be correct in a completely flat landscape but for me I can beat cruise control any day where I live.

I mean, I went XLT+Lux because I live in Wisconsin and wanted heated seats. Might not have bothered otherwise.

But yeah, when I picked up my truck in February, I was definitely glad I went that way 😆
lol on the heated seats

My reason is some after affects of radiation, my bones get damn cold!

I would def give what they ask for heated seats.

On the other hand, those of us with Hybrids the cruise control is incredibly efficient (and we don't have to worry about the boost issues)

But I used to drive a Ford Escort that didn't have cruise... and I was doing nine hour drives twice weekly. I would have killed for cruise back then even if it wasn't more fuel efficient. 😆

I have an xl, only options i got were ecoboost/awd and the spray in bed liner.

Probably gonna regret not getting the 4k tow package someday, but hoping its post warranty and just blast the interior heat to manage coolant temperature.
My build (minus the bed liner) and loved it. I put after market wheels & tires on immediately. I still believe that XL is the best value out there!

On the hybrid, I have found that with the cruise on in eco mode, the throttle adjustments are more gradual than in normal mode. Anyone else notice this?

It comes down to individual expectations. Others have pointed out the trim differences. The decision becomes which best aligns with expectations.
Back in the 80's I had an Escort with an AM radio as the only option included. I was happy with it. Got me from point A to B cheap. BTW 1.6L M4 got 40+ MPG. Of course had to settle for 69HP.

No regrets. I prefer the subdued interior color scheme and the look of the steel wheels. I added CP360 for the blind spot indicators, and I've found those very helpful.

The lack of power tailgate lock might get annoying if you use it a lot. If you've only got one key with you and the truck is running, you'll have to shut the truck off to get the key. Also the lock is weird because you have to hold the key up at an angle or it won't go in.

You can add rear cup holders using the FITS connector at the back of the center console.
I rarely have back seat passengers, and never on a long drive so I won't need any cupholders back there. If I did I'd rather use fits ones than the armrest anyway. Using the armrest ones is inviting a mess to your back

Again, all depends on your own driving behavior. In my case, CC in a hybrid actually seems to decrease fuel efficiency even more than it does in my ICE because I use a lot of the hypermiling techniques. Anything that maintains speed while the environment changes can inherently be beaten manually except in rare ideal conditions (totally flat, higher speeds, long distance), whether or not that is the case depends on how you drive.

I had an XL Eco I traded on my Lariat Hybrid. If my Hybrid never arrived, I would of been happy with the XL. Had AWD, 4k tow and CP 360. I did the cruise control myself with Forscan and the switches.

I ordered a Lariat with the intentions of keeping it close to the extended warranty length 8 years / 100k so I ordered the Lariat with everything to try to prevent feeling like I missed out on anything as the vehicle ages.

XL was 27k OTD, after trading my total investment in the Lariat will be 33,500 OTD, I am happy with the features I got for $6,500 extra.

** I did find a thread that was very close to this post that answered a bit so thanks in advance for anyone who reads but I will always appreciate ideas of you still want to give them!!**

I've read and understand the differences between an XL versus XLT, but I am curious with there's anyone here who regrets getting an XL? I currently have an XLT on order but after some interesting conversations at home there are some things I wanted to add but since I'm already scheduled I couldn't. So I've been looking at placing a second order but choosing an XL this time because the only things I really need are the 4K towing and the co-pilot. I'm not thrilled about how small the color choice became but the savings per month makes up for it. I think the loss of some other stuff seems worth it. Sure power locking tailgate would be nice but I don't know if I require it. And there's no more secure lock keypad so I'm not really missing that. A back seat drink holder isn't really something that I've ever needed before. I think the only thing that stood out is the XLT gets a perimeter alarm? And then the only other thing is that I would definitely want to change out the rims at some point, but I don't mind the steelies for now. I guess most of my question is about the interior at this point. I used to not like the black seats but they've kind of grown on me with the atlas blue exterior. But is there anything else that seems different or might be missing? Any thoughts or advice anyone has would be appreciated. Thank you!
When I first started looking for a Maverick this time last year, their were none to be had. I told the sales guy that I wasn't in a hurry so let me know when/if one became available. My only requirement was AWD. Fairly quickly the dealer called me and said they just got in a fully loaded Lariat. That was way more than I wanted to pay and far more than I needed for a part-time driver so told them no thanks. It took almost 3 months for them to call again. This time it was an XL EcoBoost with AWD and no other options. While I would have liked a few added comfort/convenience features, I couldn't pass it up. I drove straight to the dealership and beat out a couple of other interested buyers by mere minutes. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my decision to buy the XL. Cruise Control would have been nice but in reality, I wouldn't use it that much. Still, it's nice to know it's now standard. I did add a SIBL, mud flaps, hood protector, soft tri-fold cargo cover and black lettering in the tailgate. The only other modification I'm considering is swapping out the steel wheels (to my eye they're ugly). Oh one other thing, when I first sat in my new XL, I went to adjust the side mirrors and couldn't figure out how. I was floored to learn that they weren't powered and I had to adjust them the old fashion way. Of course once I got them to my liking, I haven't touched them so it wasn't a big deal. Just made me realize how spoiled I've become. I remember when I scoffed at power windows, AC, back-up cameras, etc.

I wouldn't touch the XL or XLT with a 10 foot pole.

Lariat all the way!

Lariat is crazy talk, haha. It's a nicer vehicle for sure. We can't have nice things in this thread. It's either poverty edition or middle trim. Heck, I'm all in with an XLT Lux plus accessories for $35,000 spent this year. And for that I don't even have AWD or a phone holder. Makes me think the XL is the winner. More budget for customization. Most comments on this thread are saying XL for good reason.
