I wish I could say the same. I just did a 1500-mile round trip, mostly Interstate with speeds usually running 75ish, and averaged about 35 mpg. I can't really complain about that as I've only ever done better on a motorcycle, but it's definitely not 40+
I've got just over 19,000 mi on my hybrid now. Many road trips at 70-85 mph, always 34 or 35 miles per gallon. It's not going to get 40+ miles per gallon at those speeds, unless of course you're going downhill.

Get off @TruckMan's lawn!!!!!

If you pull a trailer up an 8 degree grade for 6 miles and you get 5mpg. Your MPG for that 6 miles is.....5.

If you go down that same grade for 6 miles and your get 99mpg Your MPG for that 6 miles is.......99mpg.

So one's reported MPG can only be after they empty the majority of their tank, re-fill at the same pump, without over filling, and hand calculating the mileage?

Got it.

Hello: I've seen several posts stating my Maverick Hybrid got 45 MPG, 57 MPG and more. They back them up with pictures of their dash. The only way to have your REAL MPG is by filling up your tank and filling it up again, and doing the math with your total mileage. Anyone can post a picture of their dash for a short trip and have it show 40, 50, and more MPG. I can drive around my neighborhood, never going over 30 MPH, trying my best to stay on electric power and show a bogus dash picture. I've owned hybrids for 15 years. I can post a picture of my PriusV, going down hill and it says my MPG is 99 MPG. If you want to give an honest MPG value, give us a gas tank refill, do the math with your total miles driven and then state what kind of MPG you are getting. Don't go posting a 30 or 60 mile trip and post a picture. I just don't want some people thinking their hybrids are living up to standards.
I applaud that that explanation and it stands ready to be proved ,I got ripped some for what your saying a year ago
,I said drop the truck from the moon it’s all down hill,
And your mileage really picks lol

I agree with this 100%. I see a lot of misleading screenshots of "one off" trips or people claiming 50mpg on the regular. In reality a normal driver will get between 30-40 mpg on the regular basis.

We also have the people that pussyfoot it in the 30 MPH range everywhere just to keep the truck in electric. I could see this as an option if you are out in the middle of nowhere, but if you are in the city or on a busy street, you are an a-hole

If your trip was in very hot weather your engine has to run longer to keep the battery cool. I get about 4-5 better MPG in the Spring and Fall compared to Summer and Winter.

I believe Br'er Maverick likes some up- and down-hill action as you would find on the PA Turnpike.

And remember, YMMV.

So, just out of curiosity what is your mpg. I wholeheartedly agree with the method as the only accepted way for accurate mpg. I'm getting an eco so it won't apply to me - I'm expecting mid 20's since I'd rather get there and then relax lol.
Only have 2K, last fill u

Nope, not at all. A day I meant to type aren't living up to standards. I just don't like seeing BS.
My mileage varies a lot.

If it's a cool evening in the 80's, and I'm timing lights on a (45mph speed limit) across town and back trip with no traffic I easily get over 50mpg-

When it's 117 degrees and I'm driving (fast) with traffic on the freeway, 25mpg is about right...
You must be in the Phoenix Valley with me, 117!

Over 8000 miles . I fill the same way, at the same pump every time. Doing the math, 38mpg give or take a little. I don't pay much attention to what it says on the dash. It is not correct.

I have been tracking my truck's fuel efficiency on the Carfax Care Care app, and over the 31,384 miles I have driven so far, my lifetime fuel efficiency is 39.6 MPG. The Carfax Car Care app is nice because you can track your fuel economy and a whole bunch of other things, like rego/emissions/safety inspections, tire tread life, service, etc.

The circumstances during these 2730.7 miles.
This readout shows the trip 2 odometer info.

Cooler weather- springtime in the Rockies
Truck is garaged at all times, no initial battery usage at startup for heating or cooling.
Very little A/C used during this time
I never drive with my windows down
Very calm few months, no bucking headwinds for long periods or driving in daily storms.
City/highway I’m guessing 80/20
Highway speeds 75
A smaller rural area, Loveland, where stop and go and rush hour traffic is minimal compared to many areas of the country.
Tires inflated at, or near, max psi
Truck has a hard Ford Tri-fold tonneau cover
Truck has a Ford rear spoiler
No hood deflector or window deflectors to mess up the laminar airflow
Ford Maverick The REAL HYBRID MPG IMG_2900

I don’t carry hundreds of pounds of stuff around with me.
I know how to drive efficiently
I do not hypermile
I accelerate similar to surrounding traffic.
I use 87 octane from the same source, usually the same pump.
Truck is white- the power system isn’t working as hard to cool everything, hence, more battery to work with.

Don’t know if this makes a meaningful difference or not but I’ll throw it out there anyway; I keep my truck super clean and sealant waxed at all times. A microfiber towel will slide right off the hood.

Now, since warmer weather started this summer, mid-high 90’s, my mpg has dropped to 47-48 mpg. so hot weather does hurt mpg.

Hope this helps clarify my average mpg in a useful way.

Totally agree with you my dude.

The lowest tank I have gotten is 30 MPGs when driving freeways. And the highest has been 36 MPGs when I drive conservatively in a 50/50 mix.

I never ever check after a trip.

I do agree that the only way to really get the MPG calculation is with each fillup calculations.

So dumb the people that post their dash after a 1 mile drive that took them 15 minutes.

Yeah, I was figuring the heat had a lot to do with it. Temps on the thermometer were reading as high as 102°.
