Nice. If you had my luck, you would have taken those to be refilled and gotten yelled at for having more than 2 or 3 in your truck. I had a U-Haul guy get super pissed once when I showed up with what I recall to be 4. Claimed it was a DOT regulation. Probably somewhat true. 13 of those in a crash would probably be spectacular.


Edit: Ahhh. Had more to do with enclosed area versus open bed.

"Don't transport more than four propane tanks in an enclosed vehicle. Exceed the weight: Don't transport more than 90 pounds of total propane weight in an enclosed vehicle. Similarly, avoid transporting more than 1,000 pounds of total propane weight in a pickup truck bed or open trailer bed."

LOL. Those aren't my tanks, I have a propane delivery side hustle. I think you can haul as many propane tanks as you want as long as they are outside the truck (aka in the bed) and not in the cab.

Yeah, 4 tanks for enclosed, 1000lbs total for exposed.

But here is the fun part. Non-commercial? Do what you want! No rules for them! Go nuts! These are just "guidelines"

YMMV based on state rules but those regs are only for commercial hauling

A full propane tank weighs 30-35 lbs. So I only had around 450 lbs. in the bed. No where near max payload.
