Tailgate tie down anchors / hooks that work with Tailgate Assist strut -- installed pics

Someone in another thread mentioned the tailgate assist rubbing a bolt head and I noticed mine was doing that very slightly, wondering if that is why ford has is shown in their accessories website pic opposite of the instructions that came with it?????

I've owned trucks for like 10+ years and never let one slam down.....what is going on with yall? If you think the maverick needs an "assit" then I dunno what you would want on a older super duty lol hydraulic jack maybe?

I've never "dropped" a tailgate on any of my full-size trucks, either. But I will put one of these on my Mav when I get it (note the eternal optimism). Why? Because I'm not the only one around my truck, and my 4-year-old grandson might open it, and I don't want it to free-fall on his head. He's the perfect height for that scenario...

I also want it installed to prevent "bouncing" of the tailgate when I'm carrying my bike in the truck bed with the tailgate open.

But if YOU don't want / need one, by all means don't get one. I'm sure Ford left it off the keep the price low for folks like you who don't need or want it. I'm fine with that – it's a "price point" vehicle, after all!

Got my tailgate assist for the coolness factor not because of dropping the tailgate. I like the D ring idea and will be using that. I don't like having the bolts threaded back into empty holes on the L/H side.

For $28 dee zee I like the tail gate assist, smooth down, NOT slam down!! Well worth it.

I have never tried to open a tailgate with the assist, how much difference does it make?

It’s just a nice refined way for the tailgate to open. Instead of just falling, it glides down. You open it and let it do its thing. Certainly worth it to me. Since I had to sacrifice the bottle opener/tie down, I recently replaced it with the tie down ring from Amazon. So now I have both the assist and functionality. Do you NEED it ??? No, but it’s a nice inexpensive mod that will be appreciated every time you open your tailgate.

I just got the tie down for my CO XLT. As for the tailgate damper, I like it.

Ditto for me. My 94 silverado for 29 years, a 71 C/10 before that. I never just let the tailgate go and slam down unless it accidentally slipped out of my hands. Even so, I still got the tailgate assist on this one though. I like it for the cool factor, plus since this is my primary driver and essentially a grocery getter, it's nice to roll the grocery store buggy up near the back, release the tailgate, letting it do its thing while turning around to unload all my bags of food, and stick my perishables inside the cab.
