We have two Mavericks. One is cactus gray, and the black tailgate letters look great. But our second Maverick is carbonized gray and the black letters would have gotten lost in that color. I opted for the pricier ones with the red outline and I think it really was a good choice. These really "pop'.

I know the Maverick is a "budget" truck but Ford really should have made the darkened lettering stock. It really does improve the appearance but I have never had great luck gluing things on to painted surfaces.

I saw one in person yesterday I actually did not like. It was a local land surveyor with red lettering on white. It just didn't work. Black would have been better. But I think red works on gray.

Maverick spotting is getting too easy in my area. We drove 15 minutes to and from lunch out here in the country. I must have spotted 6 Maverick on that ride. My wife now figuratively rolls her eyes when I point and say "Maverick".

Mine is 2024 xlt hot pepper red I bought the black lettering from Ford with some of my points it really looks nice. So cruise Ford parts. As far as sticking them on the instruction say to clean with iso alcohol. I have no issues with them coming off.

Yes, at least on the Lariat they should have done something to make the letters pop and add a touch of extra.
I've been really impressed with my letters, they're the raised ones from amazon and they've lasted through +35c and -35c temperatures and an apocalyptic hail storm so I don't see them falling off any time soon, you just have to really prep carefully. A good wash, lots of alcohol to clean up and careful application, only let them touch once they're in position.
