Oh tape measure accuracy would be plenty! I'm just curious as mine (truck built feb 2022) seem to be a good 3/4"+ too longI can probably get close, but it is longer than my calipers would measure. Let me go take a look

Yup as expected, measured from the same spots, mine are each about 14 3/4" or even a hair longerlooks to be Drivers 14" and Passengers 14 1/8"
measured from the grommet clip end to the other clip end, so the wire in-between each hook/clip/connector
I took delivery of my XLT LUX on 10/18 and tailgate is level and both cables are tight.Interesting. Well please do try to get us the part numbers for both if you can. The unlevel bed is one of my minor gripes about the truck.
Best measurement to eliminate any variance in actual end fittings would be to measure the distance from the far sides of the holes in each end as that would be the actual needed length with the tailgate in it's preferred level positions![]()
measured at that crease, where the actual metal starts under the heatshrink on each end.
I’m out of Texas for a week, I’ll check when I’m back. I did those measurements at night too because I was impatient, I can try to be more precise.Best measurement to eliminate any variance in actual end fittings would be to measure the distance from the far sides of the holes in each end as that would be the actual needed length with the tailgate in it's preferred level positions
Now that's the way it's supposed to be, I'm picking up a replacement cable from my dealer on Tuesday and will definitely be showing him this picture! Thanks for the visualJust picked up my Hybrid yesterday. It seems much more level visually than my XL, I have not used a level or 2x4 to verify.

You are correct but we shouldn't have to take a grinder to our new truck to make it rightThey aren't where it is normally adjustable behind the taillights the nut is spot welded, I think another member grinded the weld to level it out and make it adjustable.
( I may be wrong but pretty sure I read that here. )
Either way, mine is level enough to not notice, so happy with it.
I’d throw a level on it, but I don’t own a long one, always had access to one at work, now I’m remote. Hopefully anyone can get them replaced without hassle. Now that's the way it's supposed to be, I'm picking up a replacement cable from my dealer on Tuesday and will definitely be showing him this picture! I have never dropped my tailgate, and the cables are too long.Wonder if this has anything to do with "dropping the tailgate" instead of letting it open softly...
I noticed a few pics looked like the gate was sagging. Glad they are fixing that.Ok no idea what the service tech was writing down both stamped numbers on the tailgate assist hook are the same- Work order gives this PN however -

Tailgate is 100 percent level with new cable- FYI
Mine have been too long since day 1. Same as everyone else with an early build. Dropping the tailgate, which I've never been done, shouldn't and wouldn't stretch or pull the cables 3/4" anywayWonder if this has anything to do with "dropping the tailgate" instead of letting it open softly...
