Turboback from Stainless Works showed up today. I’m hoping to set a day aside in the next 2-3 weeks to get it installed. Quality looks great. If I can take a video that replicates what it sounds like in person, I will post it up.

Finally installed it over the weekend. I still have some driving around to do to but it sounds good from the outside. Inside the cab (with windows up) might be a little too much for me. Definitely have some drone around 2200-2500 rpm while accelerating. Cruising is fine at all speeds so far. I've tried to take a video that sounds similar to in person, but the phone videos don't capture the sound right.

Narrowing down the "drone" may be a work in progress. I did begin a "stage 2" e-tune which did help some of the drone at lower loads. The tuner still has some revision to be made, but the truck feels much more responsive. I've also since noticed the band clamps still allow the exhaust to move/turn even while fully clamped down. One connection is actually allowing the carbon through the slip joint. Somewhere down the line I will be removing all the clamps and using copper gasket maker before I tighten everything back up.

Finally got around to trying some fixes. I'm not of fan of slip joints on exhausts, so I had them welded. I also ended up having a vibrant ultra quiet resonator welded on right after the down pipe. There is still some drone at about 2200 rpm, but I can tolerate it. Drone without the resonator was a bit too much for my taste. I'll try and get some good sound clips over the weekend.

“Tolerate” it 🙁

It's a 3" turbo back on a 4 cylinder. I just want to be up front for anyone wondering about the sound. 🤣

I totally understand
All I meant was that to “tolerate” something is not a plus.
Thank you for being up front.
We should all be that way 👍

Gonna need to see some dyno pulls. I find it hard to believe this little 4 banger needs 3 inch pipe anywhere. The v8 half tons only use 2.5. I have had many vehicles in the past with these straight thru baffled mufflers and they will drive you crazy with noise.

Definitely agree here for the catback. If I was just starting out I would have done just the 3" downpipe and either left the stock catback or ran a 2.5" catback. The 3" downpipe I wanted because I do plan on a slightly bigger turbo down the line.

I ended up adding a vibrant resonator and a magnaflow muffler on top of the "muffler" that came with the system. It's still plenty loud, but the drone is finally gone.
