SOLVED:

Had the same issue. Ended up being the door panel was installed incorrectly by me. Compared to the other side and saw that even though it seems to be correct it wasn't. Pulled off reinstalled and the sail panel piece snapped right in. Good Luck.
Actually in looking at your pics I can see that you do not have the panel seated in the rear grooves.
Thank you Hooverq! This was the exact issue! While the door panel seemed correct and the bolts, plastic clips and screws fit together fine, it was in fact wrong. The top of the door panel where it "hooks" onto the door at the top was not fulled seated correctly. This caused that plastic triangle piece not to fit correctly.

I replaced my speakers and was able to get the door back on just fine, but this plastic paneling (see pictures) will not go back on. The two plastic brackets at the bottom snap in just fine, but the plastic slit that go into the piece of rubber just gets pushed out. It causes the plastic piece to be loose at the top and have about a half inch gap.

  1. I've tried just pushing it in.
  2. I've taken the rubber bracket out and fit it onto the plastic panel then tried putting it back in.

As someone planning to replace speakers soon .. was it really necessary to remove that triangular piece to get to door speakers ??? or was there another reason to pull it off??
Just curious ...going to watch more install videos :)

Looks like the clip (forget if its metal or plastic) that should be on the top tab got pulled off and is stuck in the rubber piece.
Still no luck. I took the entire thing out and put it on the plastic panel piece and then pushed it in. The clip just pushes the panel out.

I've been watching videos on YouTube to see how others put it back together and it just seems it goes back in and the two plastic clips at the bottom hold it. My issue is that the rubber clip literally pushes the plastic piece out.

It is. Part of the big plastic door panel is underneath that little triangle plastic piece.

Did you take the clip out of the rubber piece, put the clip on the panel, put the rubber piece in the door, and then try to install the panel?

This was it! Thank you! I rolled down the windows and compared how the front doors were seated (the ones I removed and reinstalled) to the back door panels that I didn't touch. I could clearly see that I installed the front panels incorrectly.

Yep, I struggled for a little bit on the first one. Even dropped the rubber mounted clip down inside the door panel. Got frustrated, went inside cracked a cold one and it hit me, LOOK AT THE OTHER SIDE.... Who says alcohol makes ya' stupid?
