Just saw my first Maverick commercial today on Peacock. Pushing mostly the Flexbed. I usually have streaming services that don't include commercials (and dont have cable) but my Peacock channel does and it was exciting to see. Thats all. Lol

Classic case of marketing not talking to operations. I've seen this many times at various companies. Marketing promoting a product where demand already exceeds supply.

Most likely marketing has some budget to spend before the end of the year and someone decides it would be fun to shoot a Maverick commercial.

To be fair, the order banks are still open.

With the truck still essentially the same from launch, they could probably recycle any original film or commercials they made years ago that were never released, with just a change for the model year. Any integrated keypads or deleted colors would be a giveaway in a MY24 commercial.

Just because order banks are open doesn't mean anything.
Order backlog stands at over 41,000 and that does count what's already scheduled for October/November.

I suppose they could be advertising for 2025 orders, but that's a stretch.

And at that production that rate for Oct/Nov, you're lookin at 140k-150k Mavericks over the 13-month production schedule with the new third shift (and that's rounding it down to 12 months to account for two 2-week plant shutdowns), so they can take up to another 80,000 or 90,000 retail orders on top of the current 41,000 (though I'd say anywhere from 50-75k to be conservative for fleet orders, possibly an extended strike, etc.). Most existing orders should be built by mid-spring based on the initial scheduing rates, though obviously constraints and dealer allocations are going to push some of those later into the summer or later, and that rate could also slow.

So yes, bank being still open this year does mean something, though it was obviously not a good indicator the past two. But there is a reason last year's closed so quick - they ran out faster than they could shut it down, so they [hopefully] learned their lesson about keeping it open like they did for MY22. There's definitely room for advertising when the latest commodity list only showed 4,000 new orders over the past month.

Think I saw a Maverick in a Ford NFL ad. Last weekend. Can’t think of any other Ford with a tailgate at black plastic bumper level combo.

HMO has a 3rd shift... and MY2024 production will run 13 months. Should be inventory to justify the commerical. I don't have cable.. and just limited streaming (netflix, discovery+, history, pbs, maybe cbs?, no peacock.); hopefully this commerical can be seen on Youtube.

I'd love to see 12K production per month. Hopefully they can hit that. To your point, if they get caught up by April that's still a 6 month backlog. And when they make trucks for the lot, they'll sell those to the people who didn't want to wait months and months for an order. It's still a questionable use of advertising dollars.

That's a pre-production ad. Probably just random filler for a timeslot. It makes more sense now.
Whatever. It's still an ad.

I haven't seen any on television, but I have antenna only and don't watch commercial TV very much.

saw the same ad this morning on a streaming news channel, very short. however brief they don't run commercials for free, Ford payed real dollars. assuming what is/was, will always be true

we're two years in now and the initial shinny object demand has cooled, production has increased, interest rates up, used Mavs available. this time next year there will be stock Mavs on dealer lots.

They run a Ford ad every night here in SW Ohio. It basically shows all the products with quick shots of each vehicle and a name splash on the screen. 30 second ad. Not really exciting stuff, but at least they acknowledge they make the Maverick :)
