Never really understood how people on this forum think that they are entitled to know how many orders and what allocation a dealer has.

I wouldn't tell you anymore than I'd share my gross profit from last month.

Me: Please send me a copy of my COVP. Also, can you tell me how many orders you took for 2023 and how many allocations you have? Can you tell me was my order one of the first or last placed?

Just talked to my neighbor while out walking one of my dogs. He’s looking at new F150s to replace his 2014 Platinum with 180K.

Salesman he’s bought multiple trucks from over the years told him to stay away from new F150s. Why? F150s arriving at dealership are 2022s that were sitting on storage lots with missing chips, paint damage (sun, bird droppings, dirt/dust, etc.), bad tires, additional electrical problems related to missing chips, etc.

He asked me how I liked the Maverick and I told him. Asked him why and he replied “salesman told me the only Ford pickup safe to buy right now is a Maverick. As soon as they’re built, they’re shipped.”

Last part true but finding one without markup is a problem
If you travel on I-71 between Louisville and Cincinnati, at the now-inactive Kentucky Motor Speedway, there are acres and acres of trucks parked in the parking lots surrounding the track - at least there was the last time I drive through there right before Thanksgiving.

Ford has a major assembly plant in Louisville and my understanding is that the produced vehicles that still needs chips, etc. are being parked out there to get them out of the way.

Unsellable Ford trucks fill Kentucky Speedway parking lot (fox19.com)

I would imagine most of these vehicles are fleet / stock inventory, but yeah I would hate to pay full price for a vehicle that had been sitting out in the elements for months at a time.

Its tough out there. A lot of us are victims of our own consequences yet we boo hoo on the internet. If you can only afford an xl with no options, that's what you get. It's not the only vehicle for sale out there. Want something better, well I don't need to tell a grown man what he/him needs to do to get it, right?

The dealer has no obligation to sell you anything other than what they want to for how much they want to sell it to you. Luckily their are some that will not markup but you've got to wait.

Im not sur eif you were asking a rhetorical quesiton or looking for advice on how to save and spend 6K, but my days spent as a no nonsense life coach would have me suggest the following:

Maybe sell the dodge and quit having kids?
"Sir" (What an ass) John.

I was replying to the fact that for "some people" who are buying Maverick's, it is the little truck that offers what they need, and that it is not a case of: "I want that new toy."

I do not feel that a $5,000.00 down payment would stop the flippers, but hurt the working people.
As for work, I work for my local city and I am not "poor". I do not need too sell my Ram or my kids. I will give you my mother inlaw.

Besides you, what bugs me more then the dealers, is getting screwed out of the vehicles that we want. (Maybe your a Ford dealer?)
There are 'no' other options to the Maverick right now.
Hyundai sucks...

I never believed I was entitled. But I believe when I ask, they should understand the question, even if the answer is "NO".

I ordered from a small dealer and was simply trying to figure out if I will get my vehicle in 2023, as I need something soon.

I'm a better person now, after your input.

I ordered my Maverick on 9/17 and just got it on 1/7. When I went to sign the paperwork, it was an extra $1000 more than I expected. I asked about it, but the finance guy wouldn't tell me where the extra $1000 came from. I reviewed the paperwork and noticed an extra $1000 for an appearance package. Turned out it was for ceramic coating and an interior warranty which they added without asking me. Luckily, they agreed to remove it.

Public Service Announcement:

As the person who initially mentioned the potential "$5,000 deposit", I'd like to remind everyone that when I did so, I stated that is would not deter the flippers, and could negatively impact real buyers, so it was not an answer to the professional flipper problem.

Thank you.

Waldorf Ford dealership tried their Yoyo sales tactics on us. They attempted to charge us the MSRP while asserting that Ford had revoked the offer. Fortunately, we managed to acquire the price protection certificate number from Tim, the Ford Video Guy✌. Only after presenting the certificate did the weasels 🐀 backtrack and acknowledge our eligibility for the $3400 rollover credit. If you’re in the market for a Maverick or any Ford vehicle, I recommend reaching out to Tim Bartz at Long McArthur Ford. 💯 Tim’s assistance, expertise, and honesty are truly exceptional.
