Roof Top Molding MOD Rack?

Came across this T Slot while looking for parts to build my dog box and started to wonder if the roof top molding can be modified to add this instead? Just seeing if anyone else has tried to tackle this DIY project or thoughts if can/how be done.

I like the idea.

Roof rails or the built in ability to add them is my number one thing the Maverick is missing. Forget all the tech stuff everybody "needs". On a truck with a 4.5' bed I need a place to put long stuff. Like 12' 2x4s. I am actually getting a cap with racks but am gonna do the Yakima clamp the frame deal on the cab to boost capacity. But a solid mount rail would be soooo much better.

Agreed! I want to do this pretty bad but need time to take apart and figure it out and time is something I don’t have lol

One of the first things I want to do is figure out how to transport a recumbent tandem bike that's way too long, and a rooftop rack with a front fork skewer on it is probably the answer...that, or a folding trailer that fits in a barely-two car garage (which is way easier to find).
