I have two old wagons, a 96 Buick Roadmaster and a 94 Ford Escort. The Buick, being an entry/mid-level luxury brand, has lots of sound deadening in the doors, the floor and the ceiling. It's not perfectly quiet but it's the quietest vehicle I've ever had and I love it. Road noise will slowly wear you down without noticing. The Escort by comparison is LOUD. There's no real sound deadening to speak of.

I expect the Maverick to be somewhere in the middle. Not luxurybarge quiet, but not 90's econobox roaring either. I have an XLT but am making plans to switch to the Lariat windscreen and add sound deadening to make it quieter, it will be my sales vehicle. So far I've been encouraged by what people are saying and look forward to finding out myself.

Sorry dudes but I have no idea what your talking about, I have the Lariat 2.0 with the more aggressive Falken Wildpeak tires and my Maverick is whisper smooth and very quiet. My Maverick is even quieter than my 2019 Honda CR-V. Heck my wife even talks about how quiet the Maverick is. TFL truck or car did a decibel check in one of their videos go check it out.🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ Uh… Never mind I had my Maverick UNDERCOATED before I picked it up and would explain why my Maverick is so quiet. If you want a quieter ride I recommend the undercoating which reduces road noise by 60% plus the Lariat has a acoustic windshield.

if you have not test driven a Maverick before delivery, try to do so. If you can't make that happen drive yours for awhile before spending $$ to mitigate potential "problems" that may not even bother you in reality.

For those who haven't yet, wait till you hit your horn. Almost sounds like there is no sound insulation at all then.

Not bitching, just an observation.
Is there any sound insulation at all? I know the underside of the hood and inside the doors there is none. Probably none on the firewall, either. So, none.

And still people say it's generally pretty quiet.

No complaints, as i said earlier the build is good - I completely understand the lack of sound insulation at this price point, should be a straightforward fix once I get to that point. I don't think it will take much to drop that level down.
Sound insulation is typically not expensive, as much of it is more or less just sticky tar paper that really costs very little to slap on fresh at the factory before paint. IMO its more of an intentional design choice.

The Miata is very loud for example because they intentionally didn't put on sound insulation to keep weight down, as weight is the enemy of performance and economy too.

I believe that Ford was adopting Mazda's "gram strategy" philosophy, which you can see just comparing hoods for example. So if you try to lift a Santa Cruz hood, you basically can skip arm day at the gym. The Mavs hood though is so light that with some modifications like bug guards in front it can actually flap a little in the wind.

Add up a little weight savings here and a little there, and a AWD Mav turbo is only 3,731lbs vs a similar size Santa Cruz turbo that starts at 4,101lbs, a 370 pound, or one average Mississippi guy, worth of weight.

Heck, in the lightest FWD turbo version its a mere 3,563lbs, pretty unheard of for a pickup since most are around the 5Klb mark.

Just blast the stereo and u don't have to worry about ANY noise... lol jk I test drove a couple ecoboost. Didn't really notice a difference compared to our new F150/old F150/2020 Honda Civic Hatch Sport. (trying to compare something similar that's more comparable than your electric luxury car that is likely so silent that you can hear colors and see sounds) 😭🤣 When driving on the crappy access roads, the Maverick was indeed louder like our Honda. I'm with the guy who suggested the cheap sound deadening mats on amazon or if u wanna spend a little more, I'm a huge fan of Dynomat since I guess I'm trying to go deaf by 35 with deafening aftermarket subs .🤪
If you splurged to get the X, what's a few extra dollars on top of the line noise reducing mats? Do it. Just do it. 😎
Maybe I will splurge on my new Mav... but probably after I get the ceramic coat!!

Here's an article on that from 2018. Things may be different now, but according to this there are only about 9 states that ban headphones completely, 8 that have some sort of partial ban, and the rest have no laws about headphones and driving.

Is It Illegal to Drive with Headphones? A State-By-State Guide - The News Wheel

Yes. Sometimes they even drive and talk with the radio off.

But... personally... I like a quiet car so that I can sleep while I'm driving.
Get the co-pilot 360 it makes it so easy to power nap

That stuff is more suited to NVH/Harmonic mitigation. The best automotive interior passive sound insulation is Thinsulate (yep, similar to the white stuff from your winter coat), it is fairly light, but quite pricey. Open up a high-end vehicle, this stuff will be on the back side of every interior panel. As MSRP goes down, so does the amount of Thinsulate.

The OP seems to have been thoroughly debunked here. I have a Lariat with 245/65R17 Falken Wildpeaks and it is the quitest vehicle I have ever owned by far. The only time I notice road noise is when the rear seat is in the up position. Probably not much insulation under the cubby since it assumed it will be down most of the time.
a/t3's or trails?
