This is the reason Ford needs to move away from dealers. I texted the dealer and asked for the OTD price and they kept insisting I call them. When I did, the OTD was 15K ADM over the sticker and I hang up on them. Then, another person from the dealer called back and said the call was disconnected. I told him it didn't, I hang up. On the website, it shows they are expanding their lot and needs to move their inventory ASAP. Well goodluck with that.

It's clear you don't understand state franchise laws. Car manufacturers (except Tesla because they never had dealers) can't get away from dealers. Ford has no relationship with you the buyer. Your relationship is with the dealer.

I understand your frustration. It has not been a good rollout for the Maverick. Personally, I missed being able to order one, ( not looking for a truck when the order bank was open and I did not know about Mavericks then) What it comes down to is dealers (not ordered vehicles) can set the price on cars in their lot to whatever they want. I paid quite a bit for mine, but being 73, not into waiting until the order bank is open again. If order bank is the correct term...

While I have no love for Harris Ford, it is where I got my 2022 (ordered by me when 2022 model year order banks were open, not me calling to ask about a customer abandoned order from the website). They did not try to get me to do anything crazy with markups or heavy sales pitches for accessories when the Maverick came in. I did make it clear I knew what I was talking about, so perhaps they just knew I was not a sucker and did not waste any of their time trying.

Seems like they are making their money on the abandoned custom orders.

Well, it is a 50% markup. It's crazy. But since a poster above said they didn't try it on their order, sounds like it may only be for vehicles on the lot. While I am not a fan of the markup, and I wouldn't pay it myself, I don't question their ethics on this. They can ask anything they want, just like I can ask anything I want on Craigslist, sellers on Ebay can charge $30 shipping costs (which is just a markup), sellers on Etsy can charge $50 for a 3D printed item that was $5 in materials, etc.

Supply and demand and such... Don't like it, don't pay it. No one HAS to have a Maverick, there are thousands of vehicles available to buy at any moment. Just get something else.

Personally I think vehicles, especially hybrids have the lowest markup (in general) of anything out there.

MSRP is barely above cost.

Most things need to sell for 3x cost for a business to be viable.

MSRP is not a rule. It's not a law.
It's a suggestion.
It's there in the name.

These little trucks are a Hot commodity. My dealer just gave me 37k ,2k over my original purchase, on a year and half old Maverick with 11k miles on it in trade for a marked down new Lightning.

They posted the Maverick for 41k and it was gone inside a week.

I guess it’s pay or move on in this Hot car market today.
