Hi all, I've been lurking in the MTC forums for a while now but finally am joining as I got my Cactus Grey XLT hybrid recently!
I've been leaning toward a retractable tonneau, and I like the idea of an integrated t-slot for adding a rack. Somehow I'm leaning away from the ones with rollers. More expensive and the canister takes up more space, which is at a premium in the Maverick bed.
I've been looking at the options. My neighbor has a Roll-n-lock aluminum xt series which he likes a lot. Realtruck doesn't seem to carry the XT series unfortunately.
On Realtruck there's the Gator MT, whose canister and locking mechanism looks a LOT like the roll-n-lock A-series XT. I'm wondering if one is a rebrand of the other? Gator seems to be less expensive, so I'm wondering what difference there is. And since Realtruck doesn't seem to carry the RNL A-series XT, if the Gator is more or less identical that might be my best bet.
an option called Pace Edwards Full Metal Jackrabbit and a more expensive Pace Edwards Ultragroove. Though it's more expensive it doesn't appear to have the sealed rollers as far as I can tell. Looks like the Jackrabbit does not have a t-slot for racks while the Ultragroove does. I wonder what other differences there are?
I"m tempted by the RetraxPro XR but it looks like it has a big canister. This video comparing Retrax to Roll-n-lock shows the difference in size. RNL hangs roughly 8" into the bed and is 10" deep, Retrax hangs roughly 12" into the bed and is 12" deep. I would love it if the sites that sell these would include those dimensions and photos of the cross section so we can compare.
Anyway, I'm looking for feedback, and specifically whether the Gator MT is the same as the Roll-n-Lock A-series XT. And for those who got a Retraxpro, does it seem like it's too big for the Maverick bed?
