I decided to replace the stock antenna with a lower profile antenna. I think it looks better, and it will be less susceptible to damage from a car wash or when hauling large items that may extend over the roof. One note...I kept the radio on while I changed it out and there was no change in radio reception quality, even when there was no attenna attached. For anyone who's interested it was $20 on Amazon.

stubby jr is the antenna name - you can put the 2019-21 ranger version on no problem (I swapped mine out when I sold it before I picked up my Maverick)

Come on, post the link, I’m too lazy to shop and there are usually to many options.

Nice. But now you changed the official height of your Maverick 🤪

Since the reception remained the same, can you leave it off altogether or would the exposed screw hole be an issue in terms of rain etc.?

I'm sure you could put a rubber plug in there if that was a concern. You can find all kinds of sizes of rubber plugs at the local HW store.

I’m thinking about going this route since I never listen to the radio (CarPlay only):

EDIT - did the link wrong, sorry!

I wouldn't leave it completely uncovered.

That doesn't look like it will fit properly. Good thing Amazon offers free returns.

Get a 1/4 by 20 bolt from the hardware store, paint black. $0.23. That should fit.

Sorely needed mod. Stock antenna too tall for a roof rack.
