You have to lower the headliner, and then remove 4 bolts. I believe it is also installed with some adhesive.

I did have mine repaired and yes they have to drop the headliner (it was dirty) as it bolts into the truck and if they are good and/or have done it before should be quick fix.

I just saw this same issue on my truck yesterday. Are talking about a cosmetic issue or is that actually a water tight seal point along the roof?

if it’s cosmetic I’ll just use a very small drop of sealing caulk and resecure it. If we are talking potential leakage, now that’s another story.

Interested in this too. Mines fine, but now something to look for in the future during washes.

I had one do it. I reinstalled it and another car wash later came back out. I put some gorilla glue adhesive on the little tab on the end and pushed it back in.
Been fine ever since.
That is ridiculous to think that was going to hold when they installed these.

Bought the factory manual ($99). DON'T buy the ones on Ebay, they come without an index/bookmarks and are very cumbersome to navigate.

That is from Ford's Workshop Manual, so not something you can access unless you work for a dealer (or another shop that pays for access??)

Havent had any issues with the rubber piece like that on drivers rear side. I wash the truck on touchless drive thru wash twice a week and have not noticed any leaking into cab or anything like that so im not too worried about it as of now

I'm glad you havent
any word it its its a functional piece or just a”looks” item. The other side doesnt seem like it would actually seal the water out much so i think its kind of useless lol but if its there im sure its for a purpose.

Well it has weatherstripping on it for a reason. It would look better if it wasn't there. I'm not looking forward to the dealership taking my interior apart. I ordered a new truck not to be taken apart. I'm having a bit a buyer's remorse.
yea i was going to have the dealer look at it for possible replacement until i saw what needs to be done in order to replace it. Ill try to live with it if nothing gets damaged

Looked at mine today and both sides were popped up. Looks like they don’t seal water out since there is a gap/channel under the rubber for water to pass through. I put 3M double sided tape under the rubber strip and shoved it back in the channel. There’s no way its a water seal.

so maybe it’s there to stop a rattle issue or something rubbing a finish off?

I'm thinking about calling my dealer and cancel the replacement parts. I think a small bead of black RTV will hold it a long time. I just don't know.
I just want to see the part Uninstalled or off the truck to understand if it holds water out or if it’s just for fit and finish looks. If it’s just for looks I’ll leave it alone. If it keeps water out of an area that could get into the cab, that’s an issue!
