You could just remove 1 at a time on each side.

Still would rather not have wanted to remove both bolts which totally releases that side.

You can now pre-order hood assist shocks from redline tuning, in 2 variations. Not sure of the difference but there's about $40 difference.

The black damper body is probably painted steel, where as the silver one is Stainless Steel - per verbiage on their page.

I prefer the upper mount on this one vs. the MRT because you don't have to jack with the factory hood alignment. I was planning to use an insulated carpenters clamp to hold the hood firmly in place on the hinge plate to install the MRT's, but this solves that issue.
