Hello, I have read the post about what might be a good trailer and I have done the math about weights and balance and so on. I also looked at the article with the 16 Ft Airstream Base camp and think that it was a rigged test (that is the most aerodynamic 2600 lbs trailer they could find). I am looking for some real-world information.

What campers have people actually pulled for real world trips. I am planning to use a maverick for my tow vehicle, and I need to know how it handles from real people on real trips before I buy. Your opinions and insights would be very helpful.

I own a Jayco 154 BH Baja. Dry 2650 lbs - loaded 3250 lbs - Tonge- 335 lbs. The math looks right for 2.0 with 4K and 350 lbs passengers with some cargo in the truck. However, the font of the trailer is 7X9 so that is 81 square feet of "sail" that the truck is pulling and not the 40 square feet recommended. I am looking for owners that have pulled similar trailers to tell us how it went and do they have any praises or regrets in getting the Maverick.

Thank you - Jimoldford

2700lb loaded, 300 on the tongue. pulls like a champ. haven't figured out the frontal area. cruising at 95kph over 300kms I averaged 11.2 l/100km.

Thank you for the reply. This is quite a trailer. I looked at the specs an it about 500 lbs lighter than mine with about a 50 square foot frontage (something like 6.6 x 7.1 ). I am hopeful that a few more members chime with their experiences.

I have a 1500lb 1980 travel trailer, weighed everything at a cat scale. Tongue weight approximately 180 lbs. Frontal area square footage well beyond recommendations. Pulls great. Recently did a 320 mile trip at approximately 55 mph and averaged over 25 mpg with the hybrid.

this looks like a little sag on the back of the truck...weight distribution hitch? Seems like too much tongue weight to me, just from the picture. Water in the tank in the front of the trailer? If so, I would haul as empty in the front as possible, put all the cargo in the back half of the axle. Just my .02 from looking at a picture. I do have tens and tens of thousands of miles, towing campers, 5th wheels, etc.

maybe an inch lower than normal on this particular as we went off grid with 2 bikes, 2 totes of firewood a full fresh water tank and 10gals of drinking water. she normally sits like so below, in this picture it has full water tank and 2 totes of firewood on board. I often balance it by putting water in the grey tank which is just behind the trailer axle.
