Did a 400+ mile road tip last weekend and kept my speed down to see what it would do for fuel mileage.

I was able to do a highway only mileage test this past weekend. Filled up in Palm Springs, and drove home to PHX. 289.9 miles and filled it with 9.344Gal once I got home. Trip took 4:09hrs got 31.025MPG @ an average speed of 72MPH! @pxpaulx 30mpg should be attainable!

More information needed. How often are you starting from stop? I have been doing mostly suburban driving at similar speeds and distances and am still around 25mpg. I would think i'd have to be hammering it hard on starts to get it that low. I have the worst case mix of options for gas mileage too.
well there is traffic and traffic lights hard to say how manny times i start from stop. And i don’t step on the gas hard. Driving very conservative its all suburban streets

Wanted to order a hybrid since I'm mostly a city commuter, but ordered the EB/FWD XL instead because I didn't want to wait until June to take possession. Curious what my city miles will be. Plan on driving in Eco mode on the daily, and I'm going to do my best (fingers crossed) to be a more conservative driver once I get my Maverick. Commuter miles in my Accord is showing 25-28mpg. Local speeds are 30-35-40-45 depending on area.

My Accord once pulled an amazing 46mpg doing 55mph on the highway. Haven't been able to replicate numbers like that since.

With the stock Pirelli's, I was getting about 30 mpg. Since the temperature dropped and I put my snow tires on, (Blizzak DM-V2) I'm averaging about 28 mpg. Typical driving is 20 miles on 50 mph roads with slight hills, 30 miles on 65 mph interstate with slight hills, and 5 miles of 35 mph roads with stoplights/stop signs (not stop-and-go traffic, just regular stops).

Coming from my 45 mpg Jetta, it's a bit painful to see, but I'm still much happier with the Maverick.

I have ~2500 miles on the Odometer and I am averaging 25.5 MPG with 90% highway driving. I have to say I am not too easy going on the throttle and I also live in a state where you get honked for going the speed limit
Not bad at all...

I continue to be impressed by the fuel economy that I'm seeing. I'm 1/2 way thru my 2nd tank and am seeing 7.5 liters/100 kms combined (indicated), with a mix of city, highway and country driving.

That works out to 37 mpg Imperial, or 31 mpg US. Coming from an oh-so-thirsty 4.0 liter V-6 Nissan Frontier, I'm getting close to double the fuel economy I got with that.
8.5L/100km downtown Toronto traffic and running through GTA corridor. Idle stop makes a huge difference in the city.

I'm 3/4s of the way thru my 2nd tank of gas, have over 1,000 kms on the truck now. I'm indicating 8.0 liters/100 kms combined (29.4 mpg US), on snow tires, in winter. Better than the wife's Corolla ATM (she's impressed!). I'll gas up soon, do a hand calculation - 1st tank of gas showed the average fuel consumption displayed to be a bit optimistic. I am very impressed by the fuel economy!

2.0 first edition, 187 mile ride today. 50 percent 70mph interstate, 15 percent city and 35 percent two lane 45/55mph thru Pa. hills and mountains....29.7 avg mog
Mpg results posted in "My humble review of my Maverick XL."

The gas mileage is pretty good. We live on a rural lake and the access road to our house is about 2 1/2 miles at 15 miles an hour. A trip to the local stores and pizza place have very limited speed limits, and the XL averaged about 24 mpg locally. Yesterday, I drove some 75 miles to Mineola TX and back at highway speeds and then another 110 miles to Tyler and around, plus the trip back. This included around 20 miles of considerably heavy traffic with several stop lights on the loop around Tyler. I even stopped at the Tyler Whataburger with the XL idling minimized by the stop/start active. Using Econo driving mode and stop/start activated for the total trip for the day I averaged 30.1 according to the onboard computer. Admittedly, I drove in a manner to save fuel.

Mid way through 2nd tank of gas with my 2.0 EB and am experiencing overall 27.1 mpg mostly highway driving.

Just gassed up, gave me a chance to compare average indicated vs hand calculated actual. Combined, around 75% city driving, saw 8.2 liters/100 kms indicated - that calculated out to 8.7 actual, or 32.5 mpg Imperial, 27 mpg US. This is on Shell regular gas with ethanol, snow tires, cold temperatures, icy roads, warming it up a bit before driving off... real world winter driving. I consider this fantastic fuel economy, everything considered. I just calculated fuel economy for our '20 Corolla (1.8 liter) and it was very close (8.5 liters/100 kms, 33 mpg Imp, 27.7 mpg US). The Corolla is better on the highway, but sure close in the city!

I only have 60 miles on mine so far and it's running the 87 octane/10% ethanol that the dealer filled up with.

Since I live near the coast, all of our fuel stations carry real gas (ethanol free). Perhaps my first fill up will be with real gas and I can see how it does.
